WE MUST GET RID OF DRUG ABUSE BEFORE IT GETS RID OF US
Today, the International Day Against Drug Abuse And Illicit Trafficking, we must charge ourselves on the use of drugs.
We all know that drugs are made for us to cater to our health, drugs are the work of our intelligent and vigorous patients or our pharmacists to save and preserve our lives, their work must be commended and the time they devote to research to save mankind must not go unnoticeable.
Today being the day against drug abuse and Illicit trafficking, it has become my mandate as the number one youth in Ekiti to charge our youth to stop abusing drugs, we are the economic pillar of our town, state, and country, and nothing must deter us from upholding the economy of this country. Drug abuse is paramount among us youth and we must curb the excessive abuse of it.
We are the pillar of Nigeria, Ekiti is known as the fountain of knowledge due to the effort our fathers and mothers have put into education without abusing drugs, I charge us today to let get rid of drug abuse before it gets rid of us, we are the economic pillar of this country and we can't let drug ruins our future, once it gets rid of us, it has gotten rid of who we are as an identity Ekitis and Nigerian.
I call on relevant agencies, both governmental and nongovernmental to intensify the campaign against drug abuse, I promised my association, the Nigerian Youth Congress will continue sensitizing our youths on the negative effect of abusing drugs on our health, economy, and society.
I appreciate the executive governor of Ekiti State, His Excellency Biodun Abayọmi Oyebanji for making the youth of the state a priority in his government and pledging our support to him.
As this year's theme is "People first: stop stigma and discrimination, strengthen prevention." We must stop stigmatizing those who engage in drug abuse, we must relate them with love and encourage them on why they have to stop it. Those engaging in human trafficking should know that enslaving ourselves is worst than the colonial masters of then enslaving us, let's stop the molestation of girls and children, our children irrespective of gender must be protected to have a sense of belonging to the societal norms.
I called on traditional and religious leaders to use their platforms to preach against the illicit trafficking of our children and youth as they are closer to people.
God bless the Ekiti State.
God bless NYC.
God bless us.
