Toxicology On Mohbad’s Body Ongoing In US, Lagos Govt Tells Coroner

The Lagos State government yesterday told the coroner investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of Afrobeat singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, that the toxicology test his body was being conducted in the United States of America.

This was disclosed to Magistrate Adetayo Shotobi by a Lagos State counsel, O. Akinde, after lawyers to other parties in the inquest demanded to know why the autopsy report was not ready.

In response, Akinde said the most crucial aspect of the autopsy to determine the cause of death of late music star was being carried out by experts in the US.

He said, “The toxicology test, which has to do with the internal body, is being done in the US.”

The development made the coroner ask why the toxicology was taken abroad when there are toxicology laboratories in Nigeria.

Akinde told the coroner that Lagos State decided to do it in the US because of the nature of various substances alleged to have either been injected or taken by the deceased and the need to prevent controversy over the autopsy report when it is finally presented.

He said it was also because the death of the deceased had become a worldwide issue.

He said there was no point in inviting Prof. Soyemi, the pathologist in Lagos, to present an uncompleted report.

Earlier, when led by the counsel to the family of the deceased, Taiwo Olawanle from the Falana and Falana Chambers, Adura Alogba told the coroner that he adopted all he stated in a deposition as evidence in the matter.

In his deposition, admitted as evidence by the coroner’s court, the deceased’s younger brother, Adura Aloba, said on June 25, 2023, they went for a show at Elegushi Beach and Sammy Larry and his gang came to the place and beat up the deceased.

Adura alleged that Sammy Larry threatened at the place that anywhere he saw the deceased, he would kill him and his friends one after the other.

“On the 10th of September, 2023, the deceased went for a show at Ikorodu. Before the show started, he had been having issues with Prime Boy from home, and after the show, they began the topic. He resorted to a fight, and the deceased hit his hand against the car glass.

“We got home that day, and the deceased started complaining that he needed a nurse to treat his hand. We could not see a nurse that very day. One Ayobami Sodiq gave us the number of a nurse who administered an injection to the deceased.

“After the injection, the deceased started vomiting all the food he ate. We rushed him to two hospitals. The first one was Curamed Hospital which confirmed that he deceased had died, and the second was Preze Hospital at Lekki, which also confirmed he was dead.”

Under cross-examination by the state counsel, Akinde, Adura said the deceased showed no GNn nor complaint of illness before and after his performance at Ikorodu.

He also said he did not witness the fight between the deceased and Prime Boy as he was in the second Prado Jeep.

He said on getting home, they did not apply anything to the injury sustained by Mohbad during his fight with Prime Boy, adding that they wiped the blood on the wound in his elbow.

Adura said the nurse who injected the deceased was invited two days after the Ikorodu incident, adding that it was Ajisegiri (Bami) who brought the nurse.

He said Mohbad was still breathing when they left their house but that before they got to the first hospital, he was already dead.

Under cross-examination by Fadimu, the witness said it was Mohbad who requested the service of a nurse because of the injury he sustained during his fight with Prime Boy.

He insisted that the injury on the deceased elbow was not deep and that he had no damage to his tummy.

Contrary to claims of the father of the deceased, the witness told the court he was not aware of any cloth soaked with blood, insisting that it was only the bed sheet that had spots of blood stains from the injury on Mohbad’s elbow.

Cross-examined by Aranmolaran, Adura said there was no fight between Mohbad and his wife on the eve of his death, adding that he was still okay as of Tuesday, September 12, in the morning.

He confirmed cooking the Indomie that the deceased ate before he died and that the packs were taken from the stock in the house, adding that he and Wunmi also ate the Indomie.

Though close to his late brother, he said the deceased does not discuss all issues with him.

While admitting that the father of the deceased sometimes intervened in matters between Mohbad and his wife, he insisted that his late brother and wife were very close.

Counsels at the hearing agreed and requested the Coroner to summon Sultan and the driver that drove Mohbad to Ikoroduon nnumber10.

Prime Boy is to re-appear before the court on December 6 as his name featured prominently in testimonies before the court.

In Ibadan, Police parade 45-year-old Alfa with fresh human head, two hands

On Friday, Oyo Police Command paraded a 45-year-old suspected ritualist identified as Hassan Kolawole with a fresh human head in Ibadan.

Kolawole was paraded alongside nine other suspects who were arrested for various crimes at different locations at the Command Headquarters, Eleyele, in the Ibadan Northwest local government area.

The suspect, as briefed by the Commissioner of Police, Adebola Hamzat, through the Police Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso, was arrested on Monday, November 6, 2023.

Other items found in his possession include fresh human hands and one HP laptop.

The suspect, according to the police report, was arrested at Ogbere-ti-o-ya in the Ona Ara local government area.

In an interview with the newsmen, the suspect confessed to the crime, submitting that the fresh human head and two hands found in his possession were for ritual purposes as a result of the financial difficulty he was going through.

“I have one wife and two children, and it is very hard for me to take good care of them.

“I met one Waheed, who is also an Islamic cleric, at a Maolud. We discussed it, and he told me that he knew how to do money rituals that would require the use of human parts.

“I told him that I didn’t know how to get the human parts, and he promised to get them for me.

“He later brought the human parts to me at Amuloko, where we met early in the morning, and I kept them in my office, where I used to attend to people who needed spiritual assistance.

“The police came to search my office on the day Waheed gave me the fresh head and two hands,” he said.

The suspect said that the person who gave him the human parts is now at large.

Niger Delta Leader Asonja Hails Tinubu's Supreme Court Victory, Says; Nigeria will work under him

A Niger Delta Leader and Commandant of the Ondo State Chapter of the Tantita Security, Chief Idowu Asonja, has described the Supreme Court judgment, validating the election of President Bola Tinubu, as the necessary tonic for the President to turn things around in the country, adding that "Nigeria will surely work under him."

Asonja said the way and manner the Supreme Court Justices handled the matter and trashed out all issues raised by the petitioners showed that the judiciary still remained the pillar on which democracy will continue to rest.

In a statement on Saturday, Asonja, who is the Ondo State Commandant of Tantita Security, a security outfit securing and maintaining the nation's oil lines, congratulate the President for scaling what he described as the last huddle of the authentication of his electoral victory.

He said "Nigerians know who they elected as their president and now that their voice at the polls has been validated by the Supreme Court, it time to face issues bordering on the well-being of the people and I am confident that President Tinubu will restore the hope of Nigerians."

While also commending the petitioners, Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, for chosing the law court instead of instigating violence, the security expert said, "Now that all the processes of the election has been concluded, it is time to join hands with the president and work for Nigeria and its people."

He assured that on the part of the Tantita Security Services, peace will continue to be sustained in the Niger Delta Region with the country's main source of income well secured.

Asonja, who reiterated his called on the youths and monarch in the Niger Delta region to embrace peace and development, assured that, "Going forward, Tantita would continue to explore all humanitarian options to enhance youths and community development of the coastal area."

Northern youths slam Gumi, Abdullahi over attacks on Wike, Say; "It's dangerous to present Northern Muslims as intolerant"

Youths in the Northern part of Nigeria, under the aegis of the Northern Youths Movement (NYM) have described as dangerous, the latest attack on the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, by Kaduna-based Islamic scholar, Ahmad Gumi and one Sheikh Adam Abdullahi.

The youths described Gumi's comment that "Christians cannot be trusted with security in the country" as highly irresponsible and capable of setting Christians in the North against their Muslim brothers and sisters, warning that "Gumi and his likes should stop presenting Northern Muslims as unreasonable people that do not see others as equal stakeholders in the project Nigeria."

They asked; all the time that Northern Muslims were in charge of security in Nigeria, including being the President, did that stop terrorists and bandits from killing people in the North, including Muslims?

In a statement after the NYM meeting in Abuja on Friday, which was signed by its Chairman, Mallam Ishaya Jato, the youths affirmed that Gumi and a certain Sheikh Adam Abdullahi, who earlier released a video saying that Abuja was for the Arewa and that a Christian must not be FCT Minister, only spoke for themselves.

They said it was funny that these same people masquerading as defenders of the North raised no finger over the neglect of the Gbagyi people, who are the indigenous inhabitants of Abuja and other ethnic groups like Bassa, Gwandara, Gade, Dibo, Egburra, Nupe and Koro, in the running of the affairs of the FCT.

Has any Gbagyi person been appointed as FCT Minister before? Or the indigenous owners of Abuja are not entitled to the ministerial position too? And are the Gbagyi people not predominantly Christians?

We want to place it on record that Gumi and Sheikh Adam Abdullahi only spoke for themselves and to advance their personal interest, not for the entire Muslims in the Northern Nigeria.

Fact is that the Northern Nigeria is not exclusively for the Muslims, there are Christians as well and all these selfish old men should desist from promoting division among Nigerians just to advance their personal interests.

Most importantly, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory of Nigeria is not the birthright of any region or religion. Rather, it is a position for all Nigerians just as other ministerial positions.

Any Northerner complaining about a Christian from the Southern part of Nigeria occupying the position of FCT Minister, 44 years after Ajose Adeogun, from the South West occupied the position is only being parochial and selfish and such person is not speaking for us in the North.

Niger Delta Leader Urges Youths To Sustain Peace, Hails Tinubu

A Niger Delta Leader and Commandant of the Ondo State Chapter of the Tantita Security, Chief Idowu Asonja, has called on youths in the Niger Delta areas of the country to sustain the peace in the region and give maximum support to the government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, saying the President has demonstrated commitment to the peace and development of the oil rich areas.

The security expert, who praised President Tinubu, for renewing the contract awarded to the Tantita Security Services, for securing and maintaining the nation's oil lines, earlier approved by the Federal Government of Nigeria under former President Muhammadu Buhari, said involvement of indigenous people of the Niger Delta areas in the security of oil pipelines has brought peace to the area.

In a release in Abuja on Wednesday, Chief Asonja thanked President Tinubu for listening and heeding the yearnings of the people in favour of the works of private security initiative in the Niger Delta, being pioneered by Tantita.

He said; "The President has acted in the interest of Nigerians, especially the Niger Delta people by ensuring adequate security for oil pipelines, destruction of which is one of the major cause of pollution in the region.

"It is a public knowledge that pipeline vandalism, oil theft and leakages and allied unlawful acts have since been properly managed within the region since Tantita took over.

"Therefore, President Tinubu's renewal of the engagement of Tantita and its personnel, comprising mostly the indigenous Niger Delta people in the pipelines protection is worthy of commendation. This is also an affirmation of performance because, since the involvement of Tantita, peace and stability have returned to the region."

Speaking on the activities of the security outfit, the Ondo State Commandant said; "In spite of the successes we have achieved, we have continue to improve on our strides as we daily device ingenious ways to make sure that the current peace in the Niger Delta is well sustained and that government and citizens continue to maximally benefit from a peaceful Niger Delta region."

Asonja called on the youths and monarch in the region to embrace peace and development, saying; "Going forward, Tantita would continue to do its best in guaranteeing the safety of the petroleum pipelines and in maintaining the existing peace in the region. In Ondo State, for instance, apart from our core mandate, we would explore all humanitarian options to d enhance youths and community development of the coastal area."

How we k*lled club owner in s*xcapade ― Students

Two female students of Kwara State Polytechnic, Joseph Joy Adanma and Vandora Oreoluwa Favour, have disclosed how they k*lled a nightclub owner, Adeniyi Ojo, during a sexual escapade, in Ilorin, the state capital.

Speaking after they were paraded at the police headquarters in Abuja on Wednesday, October 11, 2023, Adanma revealed that they, during a s*x romp, tied Ojo, the son of Chief Emmanuel Ojo, a prominent figure in Ilorin, to a hotel bed, stole his phones, and other belongings, and k*lled him.

Adanma disclosed that they attempted to steal from the deceased who wanted to have s*x with her and her friend, Favour, but in the process, the man died.

She said she worked for the deceased in his nightclub for about three months in 2022 until the club was shut down by the government, marking the beginning of their relationship.

The suspect said she got her friend involved in the attempt to steal from Ojo when he requested to have s*x with her.

The suspect disclosed that the initial idea was to lure him to have s*x with them in his car, on the belief that they would find money in the car.

She however said they eventually ended up in a room where they tied the deceased on the pretense of having a s*x rump, adding that when the deceased attempted to shout, they covered his mouth with a pillow.

The student further revealed that they attempted to drug the nightclub owner but failed in their bid.

Adanma, however, stated that they didn’t know that the man was dead when they left with his phone, saying they thought he was pretending to be asleep.

Speaking during their parade, the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said: “On October 6, police operatives apprehended the two suspects, Adanma and Favour, who are both students of Kwara State Polytechnic for their involvement in the robbery and murder of Mr. Ojo.

“Through meticulous investigative work, our officers were able to track and apprehend these suspects in Mowe-Ibafo, Ogun State.

“In the tragic incident, the duo tied the deceased under the guise of having a s*x rump and demanded money from him. But when he was not forthcoming, they resorted to drugging and suffocating him, leading to his untimely demise.

“They have been processed and will be charged to court shortly.”

A 10-year-old, Goodness Oshodi, has buried alive his stepbrother, Friday Oshodi, for allegedly stealing their mother’s N1,000.

The elder brother, who has been arrested by the police, said he took the action following the directive of his mother.

According to a trending video, the incident occurred on Tuesday evening at Apamisede, a community in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital.

Goodness was however lucky as good Samaritans were still able to exhume him alive.

When he was asked why he decided to bury his brother alive, Friday said he was only carrying out the instructions of his mother to punish Friday for stealing her N1,000.

He claimed that at the time of the rescue of Goodness, their mum was in the church.

Confirming the incident and arrest of Friday, the spokesman of the Kogi State Police Command, William Aya, said he was undergoing interrogation.

“The boy has been arrested, investigation is ongoing as to why and how such thing could happened.”

PHOTOS: Troops Intercept Truckload Of Ammunition From Mali En route Anambra

The troops of the 192 Battalion Army operating in the 81 Division Area of Responsibility on Saturday intercepted an ammunition smuggling syndicate while transporting a truckload of smuggled ammunition from Mali to Anambra State.

Director Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu revealed this in a statement shared on Nigerian Army's Twitter page on Monday.

The truckload of the ammunition was discovered by the troops during a stop and search operation along Ajilete-Owode road in Yewa North LGA of Ogun State.

The statement partly read, "The troops, who acted on actionable intelligence conducted a meticulous and rigorous Stop and Search operation along Ajilete-Owode Road in Yewa North LGA of Ogun State and uncovered the illegal ammunition in a truck with Registration number ENU 697 XY, loaded with 720 packets of Red Star Cartridges of 12 Calibre, containing 25 cartridges per packet, totalling 18, 000 cartridges and an additional 250 packets of live (black) cartridges containing 10 packets each, totalling 2500 cartridges of the same calibre.

"Identified suspects, Mr Eric Seworvor, a Ghanaian national, and the driver, Mr Lukman Sani, have been taken into custody and are helping with ongoing investigations.

"Information gathered during preliminary investigation revealed that the ammunition, which was surreptitiously concealed in a supposed empty truck was imported from Mali, via Idiroko International Border, where the criminals had successfully beaten several other checkpoints en route their final destination in Onitsha, Anambra State, where they intended to deliver the illegal ammunition.

"Timely intervention by the vigilant troops however thwarted the chaos that such volume of ammunition would have unleashed on innocent members of the public, if the criminals had succeeded."
