TINUBU RETURNS FUEL SUBSIDY:

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has agreed to spend about 7 trillion naira in the payment of fuel subsidies from August 2024.
According to reports, on June 6 this year, the president agreed to pay the Sunsidy. At the beginning of this month, some Nigerians protest against the bad Governance and the high cost of living, which led to the loss of lives.

The Supreme Court of Nigeria has ruled that the 774 local government areas (LGAs) be given a full financial autonomy across the federation.

A seven-man panel of Supreme Court Justices led by Justice Garba Lawal delivered the ruling on Thursday, July 11, 2024.

The apex Court Initially heard the suit between the federal and State government on the autonomy of local government on June 13 and its reserved judgment.

The suit marked SC/CV/343/2024 was filed by the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), and it sought full autonomy and direct fund allocation to the 774 local government areas (LGAs) in the country.

Fagbemi requested the Supreme Court to order that funds for LGAs managed by caretaker committees appointed by governors, rather than elected chairmen and councillors, be withheld.

However, the 36 state governors, represented by their attorneys general, oppose the suit on various grounds, including their argument that the Supreme Court lacks jurisdiction to hear the case.

In its ruling on Thursday (today), the Supreme Court ordered that full financial autonomy be granted to the LGAs, recognizing them as an independent segment of the federation.

BERNARD ANNAULT BECAMES THE FORBES'RICHEST MAN IN THE WORLD 2024:

a French businessman, investor and art collector, the founder, chairman and CEO of LVMH, the world's largest luxury goods company. Arnault is the richest person in the world, with an estimated net worth of US$233 billion as of April 2024, according to Forbes.
Arnault was raised in a devoutly Catholic household, with a strong inclination towards music and education. He pursued engineering at École polytechnique, graduating in 1971. He began his career in his father's company, Ferret-Savinel, shifting its focus to real estate, which laid the groundwork for his future career in the luxury sector.

CONFUSION IN COURT OF APPEAL'S JUDGEMENT, AS CERTIFIED COPY OF JUDGE AFFIRMED THE VICTORY OF AKY OF NNPP:

A certified copy of Appeal court Judgement on Kano state Governorship election has affirmed the victory of Abba Kabiru Yusuf as duly elected Governor of Kano state.

In the fresh revelation as indicated in the written judgement, the Court of Appeal, set aside the judgement of the Kano election petition tribunal for lacking in merit.

The evidence contained in page 67 of the the copy of the Appeal court judgement released on Tuesday and signed by Registar Jameel Ibrahim Umar, appellate court upheld the victory of Abba Kabiru Yusuf of the New Nigeria Peoples Party NNPP as duly elected Governor of Kano.

The three member panel of the appeal court, on Friday 17th November 2023 had dismissed the appeal filed by Governor Yusuf on the basis of his membership status.

The appellate court subsequently affirmed Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna of the All Progressives Congress APC as winner of March 25th, 2023 Governorship poll in Kano.

Addressing journalists Tuesday evening, Kano state Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Haruna Dederi said page 67 of the certified copy of the judgement clearly indicated that the tribunal’s ruling that sacked Governor Yusuf was set aside.

Barrister Dederi insisted that contrary to what the Judges read to the public in the court room on the 17th November, the written evidence has vindicated Yusuf as legitimate Governor of Kano state.

It could be recalled that the national leadership of the NNPP has cried out yesterday over the inability of the Appeal Court to provide them with certified true copy of the judgment four days of delivery.

As a result, the court has exposed itself by providing a confusing judgement different from what was red during the delivery of the judgement last Friday in Abuja.
