Open Letter to the Musicians Who Inspired Me
Dear Jeremiah Gyang, Mista Seth, Barr. Ezra Jinang, Dachomo Solomon Davou, Kespan Yaron Zaki, Neken Chuwang, and all the great musicians of Jos,
As I sit and reflect on my musical journey, I can’t help but think about the incredible influences that have shaped my sound and purpose as an artist. Many of these influences have come from the very heart of my roots, my hometown of Jos, Plateau State.
Jos is more than just a city to me; it’s a living testament to the power of music and creativity. It’s a place where great musicians are born, where art is woven into the fabric of everyday life. Although I was born and spent my first 12 years in Abuja, I’ve always felt the pulse of Jos through its music and the remarkable artists who have come from there.
When people ask where I’m from and I say Jos, I often hear stories of the musicians they’ve met from the city, or how they’ve been moved by the incredible music that’s come from there. This speaks volumes about the greatness of Jos and the far-reaching influence of its artists. From local streets to global stages, the music of Jos continues to inspire and touch lives everywhere.
I am beyond proud to be part of this legacy. The sounds that have emerged from this city have fueled my passion and kept me driven on this path. But this letter is also an expression of gratitude to a few giants whose music, artistry, and vision have been integral to my own journey. Your work has inspired me in ways words can’t fully capture.
This is not meant to overshadow the contributions of other legendary musicians from Jos or from around the world, there are so many whose music has shaped the industry as we know it. But today, I want to take a moment to honor the artists from Jos who have deeply impacted my life, my sound, and my journey.
To the musicians who’ve shaped my music and my heart, I want to say thank you. Your artistry has propelled me forward, and your influence continues to resonate in everything I create.

- And my brother and mentor, Neken Chuwang, whose personal guidance and unwavering belief in me have been a constant light on my path.
Thank you for inspiring me, for showing me what’s possible, and for creating music that has touched my soul and the souls of countless others. The legacy of Jos lives on in you, and it lives on in me. I am proud to carry this legacy forward and continue to share my own music with the world, just as you’ve done.
With profound respect and gratitude,
Son Music
