The most charitable Hausa film actor Adam A. Zango rained down unprecedented fire and brimstone on Kanywood and friends.

As a poet, this is worth writing, worth carefully transcribing. I have written on so many things, but I haven’t written anything on the Hausa film industry in my life, even though I grew up and mature with the industry and followed all its developments— from the Karkuzu, to Golobo, to Dan Ibro, to Ali Nuhu who championed what’s now called Kanywood coined after the commercial city of Kano.

Adam A. Zango who’d once single-handedly offset the secondary school education fees, and WAEC registration of 101 orphans, worth more than 47 million Naira, for them to complete their studies in Kaduna, who once offset bills of the weak elders, random people, repairs mosques, buy generators etc in secret, suddenly gone public and very, very angry.

He’s the one I called the most charitable and popular Northern Nigerian film actor alive today, sorry Ali Nuhu whose space and impact is immeasurable. In a personal broadcast few days ago Adamu Zango blows fire and brimstone on close associates and Kanywwod industry colleagues.

Adam Zango started his broadcast with Asalamualaikum kowa da kowa, meaning, may peace & Allah’s (God’s) blessings be upon everyone. He continues— what I’m about to say now, I am not saying them because I want to impress you or for you to praise me or love me, it’s nothing like that!

In fact, what I’m about to say would make, from today, people— friends, Kanywood lovers, colleagues, musicians, fans, and onlookers to feel they didn’t like me and hate me. What I’m about to say, or let me tell you what you keep saying or had been saying about me. You don’t have patience, you don’t keep your household secrets, you bring your family issues to the public attention, you do this and that.

But, what’s the meaning of someone entering a person’s house and fabricated lies, broadcast it out and without questioning or investigation or little scrutiny and you people simply believed them and until today you people have been scrutinizing me with it and until today it’s all lies.

What’s the importance that my associates and friends and assistants who are with me or when no longer staying with me, whenever they cooked-up anything about me to the public, no matter how’s it's you all believes them. Even the ones I called friends just believes it without giving me listening ears. What’s there to call a secret for me? Or what remains of the real me?

All these things I’m referring to, I’m only talking about the Kanywood people— the ones I called my colleagues. But, if you thought I’m talking to you directly, then it’s you. I’m burnt beyond water. I have gone far in pains that I no longer hear calls.

If you’re looking for a hypocrite, backbiters, haters, betrayals, gossipers, liars, please enter Kanywood. But it’s not all of them, we still have good people in Kanywood, such a good people that you’ll never expect would exist in Kanywood if you know all the helps, greats and wonderful things they do off the screen.

So, today, if I said that I’m no longer acting or singing, then well done, the haters, Kanywood colleagues who do not want me to do anything good or be alive you would finally clap. You’ve finally succeeded, it only remains a little for you to be successful. You’ve finally succeeded over me, and I clap for you.

But if I would leave this industry— Kanywood and you people would have peace and be happy, then me too would have more peace of mind and happiness. That I have left you, change my profession, I’ll be in peace with my family and relations without any problems or scandals or this one says this, that one says that.

Even this online you’re seeing me now you’ll never see me, the media had only become a must and necessity tool for information passage that’s why you see me on social media, in reality I’m not a media friendly person right from onset. Social media became a necessity in world’s affairs, that’s why once a while I’m on it.

If I tell how many people I have help or elevated in this industry— Kanywood, I would list them and you people would be surprised— any person I call his or her name, I swear with Almighty Allah, I haven given him or her thirty percent or fifty percent in what made them, their development or what they are presently. But you’ve never heard my name on their lips, or my praises.

In fact, even if they were asked, on TV or podcast, who help your development as actor, or who supported you they only called someone else but not me— Adam A. Zango. Because I have become an outcast or do throway or I don’t know what I’m doing. For over twenty years I am in this industry.

How do you explain that I don’t know what I’m doing? Or I don’t see or have heart or what? All the things in my mind, in my heart, that have evaporated, that I go everywhere with for over ten years, they’ve reached a limit of bursting my heart into pieces. All what I have been saying on social are nothing, not even one percent of what has been happening to me.

Becoming a celebrity, having fame is a disaster, it’s a misfortune, it’s not a good thing. It’s all fake life, even if you would rather not portray. No matter what you’ll show people that you’re rich, you’re living in peace, having a perfect family, just like you don’t have any problems in your life. But I’m reality it’s all sadness, burdens beyond your capacity, but you wouldn’t dare tell the public. Or narrate your condition. Because your afraid of people would you’re after all nothing or not still there?

Before you buy anything you have borrowed money to buy or borrowed to complete what you’ve bought just compliment your celebrity status, for the world to say you’re rich, you being at the zenith of your prime. In Kanywood the person who’s trying to live a sincere life, a person who’s living within his means, to cater for his needs and that of his family, it’s the Kanywood people that would be unearthing his or her secrets and dishonour him to the public.

And a person who’s dishonour, disrespect and lawless at will is the person that they protect and honour. Simply because he has put himself out there for everyone to do with him as they want. We are going here, we’ll go there he’s ready and already there without asking, without justification. We want to do this, he’ll say my fees is 500,000, they’ll say we have 100,000 or 50,000 he’ll collect without word.

To Kanywood a good person that doesn't charge or do free things is a good person. But if you say this is my charge, this is my fee, this is my rule then you’re a useless person, prideful person, overbearing person, ungrateful person, simply because you know your worth, you know this is a business venture that makes money and livelihood.

To Kanywood a good person who doesn't charge or do free things is a good person. But if you say this is my charge, this is my fee, this is my rule then you’re a useless person, prideful person, overbearing person, ungrateful person. Simply because you know your worth, you know this is a business venture that makes money and livelihood.

These people that I talked about in the beginning, that I said I have done things for. With my sweat, with my money, I will go to a gala, (Gala in Hausa means, an event of different types organized for the purpose of generating money) I will shoot a film with my money, take it to the market, sell, go the weeding, parties, advertise, make money, gathered money and took the money to buy car people. But have you ever seen someone ever come out to say any good things about me?

Has anyone ever come out to say we know this person he’s a good person? What people are say are just cloud chasing? Or have anyone ever say I have dashed them or gifted them a car? Simply according to hearsay I’m a dishonour person, they became a superstar. He’s big and famous how can he come out to say Adam Zango has bought him or her a car, it's a shameful thing to say according to his or her?

But before anyone starts buying cars to people or their friends, I am the first person to start giving cars to colleagues and friends. I have given cars, more than seven with my money. My money, I didn’t borrow from anybody, I didn’t beg from anyone, it’s my money that I bought with the cars with. But no one can come out to say what’s the people are hearing about me are lies. No one to protect from viral lies the public were feed with.

No single person come out to say no this is his behaviours, this is not the person you were told about. It’s only when a person is in problem that they’ll meet me— my wife had given birth, I want to change accommodation I don’t have complete money, I would like to get married, I am sick, I would like to travel, I don’t have foodstuffs, my mother is ill, etc— that they’ll come to me in secret, and I’ll give them.

But when someone comes to social media to insult my personality, they’ll be all silent and distance because if I protect Adamu Zango or say good things about him this actor or that director, this producer would not do business or be friends with me. Let me just close his good deeds, distance myself and keep quiet.

Falalu Dorayi, Sadiq Mafia, Tahir I Tahir, Abubakar Sani, Kabiru, Rabiu, Umar Bigshow, all these people I have gifted cars with my hard-earned money. Just that I have forgotten others. Talk about bikes, the time I did an occasion and I gifted ten new bikes with my money. Nobody has contributed any Naira or Kobo.

But today, what happens? Backbiting, lies, and betrayal, from the ones I help, from the ones I elevated. In ten years, nobody has ever come out to say, good things about me or protected me from the circulating lies. Only few, chronic few that come out to say good things about me or protect me, the like of Fati Sainaaure Zango, I doff my cap for her, when they were saying so many bad things, she came out publicly to say that’s not him you’re portraying, I didn’t know him as that.

Anybody I called here, tell them, if they forget I didn’t forget, Fati Niger, Nazefi Asnani, Zainab Raga, Zainab Indomie, Umar B Show, Ali Jita, Ado Gwanja, Umar M. Shareef, Sadiq Sani Sadiq, Isa Ferous’an, Husaini Danko, actors like, Fatee Sainaaure Zango, Maleeka, Samira Yar Karama, Amina Soyaya Da Shakuwa, these people all of them are alive, but all others are silent whenever my image and person was being damage or demonized.

And all these people would be seeing, thinking I will continue to see them as my friends and people who sincerely love me! No, it’ll never happen! How we always do friendships of lies and deception within ourselves, fake love, fake relationships. Even from when a practitioner becomes sick in dare financially need and people have to rally round the public looking for alms or aid, or help is the evidence to know that we are not a sincere breed of people.

If we come together and practice sincere love and affection within ourselves, I swear the Almighty that has my life, no single person in need must go to the public before they get the help they needed because an actor is sick. All of you look at me and Furthermore, I am looking at you. I’m all saying this because if someone didn’t say all these things I’ll keep happening. Kanywood can’t filter these dark behaviours from our hearts.

It’s all about ooh, aah, it has finished for this person, it has finished for this actor, for that actor. What do you have, who are you. All you have, all you deed, is in the past. You used to be that person, now I’m the rave of the moment. All these required not to happen in a vibrant industry as ours. My take he concluded.

A PEEP INTO THE BOOK: THE BROKEN PROMISE

When a love vow in the past that is almost forgotten, seemingly harmless, borne out of naiveness and beclouded by juvenile emotion surprisingly resurfaced at a critical point of one's life and fixates itself solidly, then a lot needs to be retraced. That is the story Juliana Ezeugwu told in her book 'The Broken Promise'.
