BIBLE QUESTION

✓What is the Significance of the Death of King Uzziah and the Vision of Isaiah in Isaiah 6?

Do you think there is relationship between the two events? Do you think one event led to the other?

✓There are two lines of thought here.

Firstly, Literally and contextually speaking, Uzziah's death was only the biggest news of the year.
Isaiah's writing spanned four kings of Judah (Isaiah 1). And Uzziah happened to be the first king when Isaiah was still a youth trying to understand his calling as a prophet.
If you see Isaiah 20:1, it says _"In the year that TARTAN came to Ashdod..."_
These are just huge events that happened. Thus, the year was this marked. Just like referring to the year that we graduated highschool so as to drive a more personal/detailed scenario.
So, Isaiah's vision was more of a coincidence than it is thought to be necessitated by Uzziah's demise.

Secondly, there is an iota of significance if we consider the relationship between the two individuals. Isaiah is believed to be a nephew of the King Uzziah, Probably Uncle Uzziah's presence preoccupied Isaiah so much that his potential was buried. And when Uzziah died (2 Chronicles 26), a major event that became the theme of the year, that same year the young man Isaiah was set to have an encounter that ensured the full expression of his potentials as a prophet and one who understood visions. On this premise, the death of Uzziah afforded Isaiah the Liberty to find God.
If we go by the second thought, the significance is not relevant as sound doctrine, because it is out of context.

ALCOHOL AND CI******ES

Yes, Jesus said it's what comes out of a man that defiles him and constitutes sin. However, it's easier, and perhaps preferable, to believe that consuming alcohol and smoking ci******es is sinful rather than questioning that belief.
Possibly, it's part of the tenets of priestly consecration. Nevertheless, I wholeheartedly want to continue believing what I believe.
