*APC Chairman Ganduje Resigns, Sparks Confusion at Party Headquarters*

Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, the National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), has officially resigned from his position, according to a senior party official. The reason behind his sudden departure remains unclear at the time of reporting, but confirmation has come from high-ranking sources within the party.

Adding to the speculation, Ganduje’s personal items were reportedly removed from his office at the APC national secretariat earlier in the day. This action heightened rumors of his exit even before the resignation was confirmed, suggesting the move may have been planned in advance.

The resignation has thrown the APC headquarters into disarray, leaving staff and visitors visibly stunned. The unexpected nature of the announcement has created a sense of uncertainty within the party, as members await official statements and clarification on the party’s next steps.

*Tinubu Embarks on Diplomatic Tour of Saint Lucia and Brazil for BRICS Summit*

President Bola Tinubu is set to embark on a two-nation diplomatic trip on Saturday, beginning with a state visit to Saint Lucia and continuing to Brazil for the 17th BRICS Summit. According to a statement by Presidential Spokesperson Bayo Onanuga, the visit aims to strengthen Nigeria’s relationships within the Caribbean and promote South-South cooperation. In Saint Lucia, Tinubu will hold high-level meetings with the Governor-General Cyril Errol Melchiades Charles and Prime Minister Philip Pierre.

A key moment of the Saint Lucia visit will be President Tinubu’s address to a joint session of the nation’s Senate and House of Assembly. He is also expected to participate in a high-level luncheon with the Heads of Government of the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS), focusing on enhancing economic ties and cultural exchange. Additionally, he will visit Sir Arthur Lewis Community College in Castries, aiming to foster educational collaboration and academic exchange.

The visit to Saint Lucia underscores Nigeria’s commitment to engaging with Caribbean nations through shared heritage and mutual international affiliations such as the UN and Commonwealth. The discussions are expected to unlock new avenues for cooperation in infrastructure, education, and youth development. Tinubu’s engagements also aim to promote Nigeria’s presence on the global stage as a key player in development diplomacy.

After completing his engagements in Saint Lucia, President Tinubu will travel to Brazil to attend the BRICS Summit scheduled for July 6–7 in Rio de Janeiro. Invited by Brazilian President Lula da Silva, Tinubu will join other leaders under the theme “Strengthening Global South Cooperation for More Inclusive and Sustainable Governance.” The summit will cover crucial issues including economic development, social equity, and environmental sustainability across developing nations. A delegation of senior Nigerian government officials will accompany him throughout the trip.

FG Announces New Date For Recruitment Into Paramilitary Agencies

The Federal Government has announced a shift in the commencement date for recruitment into paramilitary agencies under the Ministry of Interior, pushing the earlier scheduled date from June 26 to July 14, 2025. The announcement was made late Wednesday in a statement issued by the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB)

According to the Board, the official recruitment portal will now go live on Monday, July 14, 2025, almost three weeks after the original date. “The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB), wishes to notify the general public that its recruitment portal which was earlier slated to open on Thursday 26th June, 2025, will now open on Monday 14th July, 2025,” the statement read.

It also clarified the official web address for all applications, urging interested candidates to take note. “The Board’s portal address for prospective applicants desiring to apply into the Service of their choice is now: recruitment.cdcfib.gov.ng,” it added. The CDCFIB emphasised that all applications are completely free of charge, warning applicants not to pay money to anyone or any agent claiming to represent the board.

The statement further stated, “Applicants are kindly requested to take note of the above changes as well as be reminded that all applications are free and do not attract any payment.” The Board apologised for any inconvenience the sudden shift in dates might have caused prospective applicants and reiterated its commitment to a transparent and seamless recruitment process.

Earlier in the week, the CDCFIB had announced the commencement of recruitment into the following agencies, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Federal Fire Service (FFS) and Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS).
