My first experience with Amala and ewedu/gbegiri thingy was not nice at all. I had travelled to attend my friend's wedding at one of the Yoruba states and it was among the meals prepared for the wedding..
The moment it was time to get served, everyone was rushing the Amala and ewedu/gbegiri and so I became curious to order for it as well. I've never eaten it at all and was happy I'll be finally eating it for the first time unknowing to me I was about to make a huge mistake.
As soon as I took the first spoon into my mouth, I could hardly swallow it. I thought it was my imagination but then again I forced the second spoon in and it just didn't sit well with me.
I almost threw up!
I quickly asked for an alternative which was rice. It's been over six years and I have been avoiding eating this food again till today! People have been telling me how I will love it and enjoy it. How it probably wasn't prepared well but I kept arguing with them that the food is not what people hype it to be!
Well, ladies and gentlemen.... Guess who finished a plate of Amala today?? Me!!!🤣
My friend drove me to yakoyo Abuja and it is the best thing that has happened to my mentality of recent 😀... My mentality about the food has changed.
I ate the food, enjoyed it! Food made so much sense and I think I'm about to become a fan of Amala and ewedu/gbegiri ohhh, with all the orishirishi in it 💃
Ok bye!
