The GCS(Glasgow Coma Scale) is the summation of scores for eye, verbal, and motor responses. The minimum score is a 3 which indicates deep coma or a brain-dead state. The maximum is 15 which indicates a fully awake patient (the original maximum was 14, but the score has since been modified).

***A GCS of 8 or less indicates severe injury, one of 9-12 moderate injury, and a GCS score of 13-15 is obtained when the injury is minor.

Parents and their Adult children: a battle over course of study.

After JAMB result is out, some students change their initial course of choice for one reason or the other. Whereas some consider change in course of study following their failure to meet the required UTME cut-off mark slated for their initial course of choice; Others, on the other hand, are influence either by parents, relations or friends to change what they wanted to study.

In northern Nigeria especially, some parents change their adult children course of choice in the unis in order to fulfill a long cherished dream thereby making their children study what they had wanted to study but destiny didn’t favored them. In that instant, a father, who is an engineer but wanted to be a doctor, force his adult child to study medicine and become a doctor so that the child actualize his father’s dream.

In another instance, some parents- giving their affection and love towards their adult children- pressure their children to change their course of choice to something more productive, in order to have a profitable Carrier and therefore runaway from labour market. Relatives too play role in this category.

However in any of the above instances, the desire to chase dream or, may be, affection towards adult children can do more harm than good in many ways, and the aftermath did not worth it.

• First, it kills the adult children's dreams and thereupon vanquished their productivity. In other words, many brains are lost when parents insist on their children to study what they have no passion for. Example, an adult child who is brilliant in art but whose parents force him study Law may not be as productive in law compare to Art.

• Second, some students due to their dislike of what they are been forced to study, join criminals groups or involved in prostitution, s*x for grade and other moral vices which would jeopardize their lives and carrier.
