SURVEY AND DESIGN OF EBONYI-BENUE LINK ROAD TO COMMENCE SOON: SGF, GEORGE AKUME ASSURES SENATOR NWEBONYI

The Senator representing Ebonyi North Senatorial district and Deputy Chairman Senate Committee on Public Accounts/ Water Resources, Distinguished Senator Barrister Onyekachi Nwebonyi earlier today, August 23, 2023 met with the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, His Excellency, Senator George Akume in his office, Abuja to discuss the modalities for the construction of the Ebonyi-Benue link road.

The SGF who was visibly happy with Senator Nwebonyi’s visit congratulated the lawmaker on his giant strides towards effective representation of his constituents. He noted that Senator Nwebonyi is a shining star in the 10th Senate and assured him of robust partnership to move the country forward.

“ I commend you highly for your focused commitment towards the liberation of your people. You have continued to call attention to the deplorable condition of the Ebonyi-Benue link road and I want to assure you that your clarion call has reached the doorsteps of the Federal Government. The importance of that road can not be over estimated. Therefore, I promise you that the survey and design of that all-important road will commence soon. The Tinubu led administration is desirous of fixing all the Federal roads in line with the Renewed Hope agenda.

Earlier, the Distinguished Senator Nwebonyi congratulated Chief Akume on his well deserved appointment as the Secretary to the Federal Government. He described Senator Akume as a seasoned politician who has contributed immensely to national development.

“ Your Excellency, I’m here to congratulate you on your elevation as the Chief Scribe of the Federal Government and to seek your support towards the construction of the Ebonyi-Benue link road. I greatly admire your leadership qualities and unflinching commitment to nation building. I want to seize this opportunity to personally draw your attention to the link road between your state, Benue and Ebonyi state. I have the full confidence that you would use your good offices to ensure the commencement of work at the road.

The two leaders had a very fruitful discussion and Senator Nwebonyi got the assurances that the survey, design and construction of the road will commence in matter of days.

GOVERNOR NWIFURU PROCLAIMS 7TH EBONYI STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY.

Governor Francis Nwifuru has proclaimed the seventh session of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly.

The proclamation took place at the Assembly complex, Nkaliki, Tuesday.

Speaking, Governor Nwifuru said the proclamation was in exercise of constitutional responsibility bestowed on him as the State Chief Executive in section 192(1&2) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria

He called on the seventh session of the State Assembly to be proactive in order to partner other arms of Government to ensure rapid development of the State.

Members at the session elected Right Honourable Moses Odunwa of Ikwo South Constituency as the Speaker of the seventh Assembly while Right Honourable Chinedu Onah of Ohaukwu South emerged the Deputy Speaker.

Other Principal Officers elected by the Honourable members include Honourable Kingsley Ikoro, Leader; Honourable Nkemka Onuma,Chief Whip; t Honourable Joseph Ununu , Deputy Leader and Honourable Chukwu Arinze, Deputy Chief Whip.

The Speaker, Right Honourable Moses Odunwa thanked the Governor for proclaiming the Assembly and assured that they would partner him to deliver on his campaign promises to people of the State.

The Speaker later read a letter from Governor Francis Nwifuru seeking consideration and confirmation of 35 Commissioner nominees which was adopted as a working document of the House.

He assured that the House would treat the request expeditiously to enable the Governor hit the ground running in delivering good governance to the people.
