Swapo Party's Marina Kandumbu has been sworn in as a member of the 7th Parliament.

The vacancy arose due to the appointments of Dr. Nangolo Mbumba and Dr. Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah as President and Vice President respectively last week, following the death of the late President Hage Geingob.

They were sworn in by Chief Justice Peter Shivute.

In accordance with Article 48, Subsection 2 of the Namibian Constitution, the Swapo Party nominated Kandumbu to fill the vacant position.
