Namibia Trade Network hosts 4th Business Breakfast Club event:

The BBC Namibia focusses on fostering meaningful connections whilst also promoting knowledge sharing. It offers a platform for members to engage with like-minded individuals and stay up-to-date on the latest trends and developments in a wide array of fields.

Each of our events feature industry talks from experts and thought leaders. This event was not different as we delved into the topic that touches every aspect of our professional and personal lives, Health Care & Employee Wellness.

The discussion touched on crucial topics such as mental health, corporate culture, governance, and strategic partnerships, highlighting how leadership development through executive coaching enables managers to evolve into compassionate, effective leaders, fostering a workplace where employees can truly flourish.

Our panelists, Birgit Hoffmann, Chief Executive Officer of Emoneko and Executive Coach, Organisational Psychologist, Michelle McCulloch - Clinical Psychologist and Sara Kapiye - Chief Human Capital Officer at the Development Bank of Namibia, agreed that when organisations put people at the center of their business and incorporate wellness into their strategy and performance metrics, the outcome is higher employee engagement and a more productive workforce.

We would like to thank Olympia Eye & Laser Centre and Namib Laboratories for the sponsorship towards the corporate gifts handed to our guests. We value your contribution!

This morning, the Namibia Trade Network hosted our first Business Breakfast Club for 2024 under the theme 'Sustainable Growth: Learning and Development.

The event convened leading minds in the fields of business development, human resources, and organisational efficiency to engage in a critical dialogue about the future of learning and development in Namibia.

Hosted at the vibrant The Stellenbosch Wine Bar, the panel featured esteemed speakers including Nina Louw from FirstRand Namibia (FNB Namibia), Julia Muetudhana of the Namibia Investment Promotion and Development Board, and Elke Hanstein from Debmarine Namibia. These industry leaders shared insights into how businesses can foster a culture of continuous learning and adapt to the demands of a rapidly evolving economic landscape.

Key discussion points included the interplay between corporate governance and learning cultures, the strategic benefits of lifelong learning, and the role of diversity in enriching educational outcomes. As Nina Louw explained, it is crucial for companies to foster inter-generational, inter-cultural and inter-disciplinary learning environments to help ensure crucial skills transfer from the leaders of today to the future. Panelists debated how best to address the skills gap in the Namibian labour market, particularly in light of burgeoning sectors such as energy.

The conversation also explored tangible strategies for embedding long-term thinking and sustainability into corporate learning initiatives. Each speaker detailed their viewpoints on how we can not only enhance operational productivity but also contribute to societal progress through inclusive and sustainable educational practices.

As Namibia stands on the cusp of significant economic expansion, today’s discussions underscored the critical need for strategic and continuous investment in human capital development. As Julia Muetudhana stated: "Learning is the humility to continue growing."

A presentation by Stefan Hugo, Director at Future Media Namibia, showcased One Africa’s www.LearnOnOne.org - a wonderful educational initiative that facilitates learning for Namibian children and adults by providing free access to supplementary classes and educational materials through OneAfrica's widely accessible broadcast and streaming platforms

The Namibia Trade Network’s Business Breakfast Club strives to be a platform for Namibia's business landscape to discuss important topics that can help drive sustainable growth across the nation’s industries.

The series will continue with quarterly gatherings, each designed to tackle a pivotal aspect of Namibia’s economic and developmental trajectory. Stay tuned for more insights and discussions from the nation’s top business leaders and innovators.
