My PSU ( THERMALTAKE 600w 80+ GOLD) is dead, going to sent it for warranty but it takes 30-40 working days which is more than 2 month , I say , why dont I just open it and diagnose the problem.. It seems the (FULL BRIDGE RECTIFIER) diode fried up and causing the fuse to Open circuit.. Tried to replace the fuse at first but blown 2 fuses at my power extension.. Later then I trace and check the continuity at the input it was short circuited..
Next thing I do is checking all the component near the circuit and I found out the the ( FULL BRIDGE RECTIFIER) has some burned marks and smells like a dead electronic..
That could be the main cause of this PSU death
I was planning to buys new psu in the begging but, if this repairable.. It could save me a few hundred ringgit .. If ot doesnt, well that RM315 is the cost of my knowledge in repairing the PSU..
There is definitely a lot new tech used in this PSU . for example. The old PSU used to have voltage selector if you're in different country range at 110 -120 volts AC or 220-240 AC which is in this new kind of PSU does not have but it works at both AC voltage.
I m trying to explain much as I can in layment terms but, some stuff is just too cool to say in their electric and electronic jargon..
I will follow up again this story and we will see how this story goes..
