#KiniNews: Anwar - Batu Puteh RCI not an act of revenge against Dr M; Papagomo arrested
[KiniNews] Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has dismissed claims by the opposition that the government was targeting Dr Mahathir Mohamad with the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) on the handling of matters related to the sovereignty of Batu Puteh, Middle Rocks and South Ledge.
Anwar pointed out that the initial special task force formed to investigate the matter was established during the premiership of Ismail Sabri Yaakob and said the narrative of vengeance should not be raised in the issue.
“The special task force was (formed) before me. At the time, Ismail Sabri was the prime minister - with (Larut MP) Hamzah (Zainudin) and (Kota Bharu MP) Takiyuddin (Hassan) as his ministers and their findings were even worse," he said.
Meanwhile, in a separate story, blogger Wan Muhammad Azri Wan Deris, known as Papagomo, was arrested early this morning.
Police confirmed that Wan Azri was arrested at his residence in Putrajaya this morning to assist in the investigation into a case of fraudulent fundraising using the name of a company.

Muda: AGC's credibility is being damaged by their decision on Zahid's VLN case
The Attorney-General’s Chambers’ (AGC) withdrawal of its appeal over Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s corruption charges only dented the agency’s already tattered image, Muda said today.
“The agency, which is supposed to act independently, is now being questioned as it seems to be compliant with political pressure,” it said.
Yesterday, the prosecution team in Zahid’s Foreign Visa System corruption case withdrew its appeal against Zahid’s acquittal in the Court of Appeal, saying they found strong facts and basis under the law to leave the High Court ruling be.

Red rivers and death: Natives fight iron ore mining in Kelantan rainforest
This is the colour of the river at the Temiar Orang Asli village of Kg Kelaik, Kelantan. Villagers say the rivers turned red when iron ore mining began upstream more than a decade ago.
Now they fear the waters may be poisoning them. Tests show high levels of chromium - a carcinogenic heavy metal - in the blood of at least one villager who consented to giving a sample.

#KiniNews: Batu Puteh - Dr Mahathir hits back at ex-ministers; AG drops appeal in Zahid's VLN case
[KiniNews] Former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad has hit back at his former cabinet colleagues over the Batu Puteh case, insisting all agreed to his decision.
Mahathir said it is puzzling that since 2018, they did not say a word (on the issue) but the moment he spoke the truth, everyone is trying to shirk away from their responsibility.
Earlier, former deputy prime minister Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, Mahathir's transport minister Anthony Loke, and then-defence minister Mohamad Sabu said that the nonagenarian had only informed the cabinet after he had made the decision.
Meanwhile, in a separate story, Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s acquittal in the Foreign Visa System (VLN) corruption case remains.
The prosecution informed the Court of Appeal this morning that they are withdrawing their appeal.
