Bassfriends Records was founded by Ian Nashville back in Jakarta 2008 under the name ChocoL8 Music then changed its name to Bassfriends Records while in Kuala Lumpur 2012 with co-founder DJ Pharmacist (S&P). Bassfriends Records grew to what was very promising future in the Global Bass dance musi
c scene. Managed to gather and promotes great talented youngsters especially in dance music production and under this label was the circle of Borneo's finest like Jet Airess, Chukies & Whackboi, ZFX, DPRX, Donny Rome, S&P, Zeeqsquad, Amonra, Maxrell and the mythical Tokan Muzik. Reviewed and supported by global network like Moombah+ (Emulsify), Generation Bass, Latino Resiste, Mal Dicen, LW Recordings, etc. From this was born the Borneo Bass dance music style and was a headline once in Diplo's Mad Decent music blog. Bassfriends Records grew loud, notorious and always the trend setter in the Borneo dance music scene. Almost every style of Bass music was introduced, remixed and produced by Bassfriends in Borneo where the parasite mass were always sceptical to new styles and stayed in their comfy cave as their guts rely on radio top 40. Creative is to be artfully different from normal. The fuel gauge is at top mark and Bassfriends was firing up locking it eyes to WMC Miami then something happened....
The label was force to halt it march right after halloween 2014 where it went through dismissal as the core founder/head "Bass Boss" of Bassfriends was charged with involvement in large volume intercontinental supply of narcotics which hook conspiracy ties to organized crime cartel and was founded guilty as charged by the High Court of Kota Kinabalu, Sabah North Borneo. "Bass Boss" was sent to death row.
4 years spent in prison and death row dungeon then a demand of appeal was approved and with different high profile attorney, miracle happened and on August 09 2018, almost rotten out of the dark dungeon of death row, the spirit of Bassfriend re-emerged slowly and subtly, continuing the journey along the dark bumpy and spooky "dance music highway" of Borneo. Though those 4 years to some, might be a shameful loss of time but to this label it was a priceless experience where no penny can purchased, not even Bitcoin. Bassfriends once a time was together with all the local producers from Sarawak & Sabah placing Borneo Island to the global dance music map. Today we have superstars rising such as Whackboi with his side team C&W and DPRX which would leading the way though they have moved on to a bigger better label, this label will always acknowledge gems of Borneo dance music. We probably not the best there is but we are always alive and legitly exist, ask your digital music apps if you don't believe.
