📍 A humpback whale briefly swallowed a 24-year-old kayaker near Punta Arenas, Chile, before quickly releasing him unharmed.

•⁠ ⁠Adrian Simancas was kayaking with his father when a massive whale suddenly surfaced, trapping him and his kayak in its mouth. About 5 seconds later, he resurfaced, stunned, as the whale's dorsal fin appeared again.

•⁠ ⁠His father, who filmed the incident, can be heard saying, “Stay calm, stay calm” as Adrian resurfaced. He then urged Adrian to hold onto the kayak to stay afloat while the whale swam behind him.

•⁠ ⁠"I thought I was dead. I thought it had eaten me, that it had swallowed me,” Adrián told The Associated Press.

•⁠ ⁠After reaching his father’s kayak, the duo managed to return to shore uninjured.

Perdana Menteri Anwar Ibrahim menjawab soalan MP Kota Melaka Khoo Poay Tiong mengenai kesediaan kerajaan untuk meminda Akta Perhimpunan Aman 2012 bagi memudahkan rakyat berhimpun secara aman.

Anwar berkata, Seksyen 11 akta tersebut yang menetapkan keperluan untuk memperoleh persetujuan penghuni sebelum menganjurkan perhimpunan tidak akan digunapakai.

Dengan ini, penganjur hanya perlu memaklumkan kepada pihak polis lima hari sebelum sesuatu perhimpunan diadakan bagi tujuan pengawalan.

Anwar juga menyatakan bahawa PDRM telah diarahkan untuk menghentikan siasatan terhadap pelajar universiti yang terlibat dalam Himpunan Rakyat Benci Rasuah serta siasatan berkaitan himpunan ahli keluarga tahanan SOSMA.

📍 The fireworks vendor, whose stall caught fire at Dataran Perniagaan Cheras on Tuesday (11 Feb), admitted that his permit had expired four days prior to the incident.

•⁠ ⁠The vendor said that his police permit for selling fireworks expired on 7 Feb and that the day of the explosion was his final day operating the stall. He was closing up when the fire suddenly broke out, though the exact cause is unclear.

•⁠ ⁠Five vehicles were destroyed in the fire due to their close proximity to the stall, including a Toyota Vellfire, Perodua Bezza, Proton Saga, and two motorcycles. The Vellfire and Bezza belonged to the vendor's wife and sister, respectively.

•⁠ ⁠The vendor pledged to fully compensate those affected, including the vehicle owners and shop owners.

•⁠ ⁠He also denied that the viral dashcam footage of two children playing with fireworks near the stall was linked to the incident, stating that the timeline did not match.

📍 A six-year-old boy suffered injuries to his groin and hand after being bitten by a python while attempting to use the bathroom at his home in Prima Court Apartment, Saujana Melawati on Tuesday (11 Feb).

• His mother said she was cooking when her son screamed and ran out of the bathroom with blood dripping from him. The boy was bitten when he opened the toilet seat, she said.

• The boy was rushed to Ampang Hospital. The doctor has since confirmed that he is in stable condition.

• His mother pointed out that they live close to Zoo Negara and are surrounded by forested areas, and snakes are often found around their residence.

📍 Five vehicles were destroyed after a fireworks stall caught fire at Dataran Perniagaan Cheras on Tuesday night (11 Feb).

• The five vehicles included a Toyota Vellfire, Perodua Bezza, Proton Saga, and two motorcycles. No casualties were reported.

• The Selangor Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) received a call about the incident at 9.53pm. 13 personnel and 3 fire engines were dispatched to the site.

• The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

📍 TMC Life Sciences appoints Dr Adzuan Abdul Rahman as new Group Chief Executive Officer, replacing Melvin Heng Jun Li who will now serve as non-independent non-executive director.

• Dr Adzuan will also take on the role of regional senior director at Singapore-listed parent Thomson Medical Group Ltd.

• Dr Adzuan has over two decades of experience in clinical practice and senior management. He has served as CEO of Gleneagles Kuala Lumpur and is a founding member of Novotec Pte Ltd, a venture focused on the application of Generative AI in healthcare.

• His appointment follows the dismissal of former CEO Wan Nadiah Wan Abdullah Yaakob in December 2024 over alleged misconduct involving contracts with two insurers and an agreement with T-Systems Malaysia.

📍 A 25-year-old man was charged with committing mischief by fire after setting his wife's car ablaze.

• Chai Kaw Fung, an auto parts store worker, was charged under Section 435 of the Penal Code, which carries a jail term of up to 14 years and a fine upon conviction.

• He allegedly set fire to his 21-year-old wife's vehicle outside a private hospital during a marital dispute.

• The court set bail at RM20,000 and ordered Chai to report to the nearest police station once a month, surrender his passport, and refrain from harassing the victim or witnesses.

• Chai's lawyer requested a lower bail of RM5,000, citing his RM3,000 monthly salary and financial responsibility for his two-year-old child and elderly parents.
