RVIVR - 'Selftitled' & 'The Beauty Between' Cassette - Atonal Microtonal/ KNOT RECORDS

In conjuction with RVIVR's Southeast Asia Tour, this is a package of Olympia based punk rockers, featuring two of their studio album which was released before, each in 12" vinyl.

The selftitled album was recorded and released in 2010, in a time where a lot of angry bands were in a race to see who was the fastest to arrive at an endless finish line. RVIVR went the other way, took the anger energy and formulated punk rock with a decent melodic approach in to fun energetic pop-punk tunes that stimulates enthusiastic catchy sing-a-longs.

The ingredients of forming the band came from the ashes of bands like LATTERMAN and IRON CHIC, making RVIVR more convincing and sturdy. The second album, 'The Beauty Between' released in 2012 then improvised the quality of their music, in terms of song-writing and production. Pop-punk wasn't about those sappy -'my girlfriend left me'-boo-hoo tunes for losers as RVIVR emphasized more on crucial issues of gender quality and self-confidence.

Both albums maintain the professionally DIY aesthetic musically with simply refined crafted songs that are meaningful enough through out its catchy chorus with lots of hooks that goes a long with on going melodies.

This is a sobering issue, after the storm that was Issue #5 which we’ve decided to pair with a 7″ vinyl. We had a proper launch for this issue, a party in the jungle celebrating once again another issue that we didn’t fathom we could pull through accompanied by a show from Portland’s finest; TRAGEDY, no less.

This issue features interview with the “up and coming” acts from three different corners in the world, ANGKARA (MSIA), Milisi Kecoa (IND) and SNAGGLETOOTH (SIN). We had a good chat with all the bands talking not only about the music that they produce, but a a rule of the thumb in our publication, the immediate local issues and surroundings affecting the bands. Blast from the Dust features an interview with Al Dimalanta from the legendary DEAD ENDS (PHIL) with give a very enlightening insight of how it all was when punk first exploded all over the Philippines and the band’s journey that includes active participation in the local political movement. Two contributors both from Indonesia and Singapore wrote their respective investigatory and insightful article on the insight of undercurrents around them both on punk representation and the turbulence of touring-business.
