Leona Chin Makes Debut at Macau Grand Prix’s Greater Bay Area GT
Macau, November 2024 – Malaysian motorsport athlete Leona Chin is set to debut in the prestigious Macau Grand Prix, racing in the Greater Bay Area GT category. This milestone fulfills her dream of competing in GT racing, a goal she has pursued for three years despite sponsorship challenges.
“It’s been a tough journey, but racing GT cars at Macau is a dream come true,” said Leona, whose motorsport career began in 2005, evolving from arcade simulators to drifting and circuit racing. Known for her viral prank videos, TV appearances, and stunt work, Leona has raced across Asia, achieving notable successes like her 2024 CCSC BMW M235i Cup win.
Leona’s preparation for the Macau GP has been challenging, with wet practice and qualifying sessions disrupted by red flags. Despite switching to dry tires in qualifying, she was unable to clock a lap due to another red flag.
Sunday’s race schedule has been adjusted due to heavy rains, with the Greater Bay Area GT race now set for the afternoon.
Leona expressed heartfelt thanks to her sponsors, family, team, supporters, media members, and the event organizers. “I hope to make Malaysia proud as I take on this legendary track,” she said.
