Ahmad Daniel Haiqal, Eric Chia and Tony Ng were on point throughout the race weekend in Round 1 of the MSF Supermoto Series at the Tangkak Circuit in Johor with dominant back to back race victories in the All Stars Pro, All Stars Legend and Rookie classes respectively.

Pro rider Ahmad Daniel was simply unbeatable, claiming pole positions for Race 1 and Race 2, and going on to win both 14-lap All Stars Pro races with an unassailable lead and also winning the 7-lap Super Rocco sprint race.

The team and I approached both races with a different strategy. I went into Race 1 with used tyres yet we still had the pace to set the quickest lap time and clinched the race win. In Race 2, more emphasis was placed on tweaking the suspension. Overall it was a great race weekend and after this its back to practice and getting more seat time on the bike. Hopefully we can keep this momentum going throughout the year, said Ahmad Daniel.

In the All Stars Legends class, Singaporean Eric Chias 2024 campaign in pursuit of a third successive overall championship title got off to a sterling start when he was also practically unchallenged throughout the weekend. The Hi-Rev Racing rider instead found himself battling for overall positions at the head of the field which grouped the All Stars Pro, All Stars Legends and Evo class riders into the same race start.

Most of the wheel to wheel action was seen in the Rookie class with Tony Ng holding off a formidable field to win both races. He finished just 1.1 seconds ahead of Kenneth Chan in Race 1, with Mohammad Aniq in 3rd place (Mohammad Aniq won but was penalised for jumpstarting). In Race 2 Ng, who is competing in only his first year of supermoto racing, held back Brian Kee for the win with 16-year-old Mohammad Aniq again finishing 3rd. Mohammad Aniq had won the 6-lap Super Rocco sprint race which placed him on pole position for Race 2 but fumbled the start and dropped to the back of the field.

In the Evo class, Muhammad Izzudin won Race 1 ahead of Marcus Lee with Mohamad Dani Reza finishing 3rd. Mohamad Dani Reza went on to claim victory in Race 2 with James Ki and Marcus Lee finishing second and third respectively.

Round 2 of the 2024 MSF Supermoto Series returns to the Tangkak Circuit in Johor on 28 July, with Round 3 scheduled to be held from 19-20 October at the Sepang Go-Kart Track while the fourth and final round on 17 November will be held in either Selangor or Perak at a yet to be confirmed circuit.

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia - Piston Project Malaysia's premier race team, kicked off their 2024 campaign with a team launch event on April 27th, 2024.

Hosted by YB Imports by Edenia, the event showcased the team's formidable lineup of drivers and proudly unveiled their race cars set to compete in the Malaysian Championship Series (MCS). The MCS series comprises an exciting mix of 3 x sprint races and a challenging 300KM endurance race.

Behind the wheels of the team's race cars are a lineup of talented drivers ready to make their mark on the tracks. Car #5 - Honda Fit GK5 RS will be driven by Mr. Roni Risman and Mr. Syarhizal Jamaludin. Meanwhile, Car #76 - Honda City GM6 will be driven by female driver Ms. Gladys Lam and Mr. Adrian Tan.

The team launching event was a big success, with sponsors, partners, and fans coming together to celebrate the start of an exciting season.

Pasangan remaja adik-beradik Hayden dan Aaron Haikal akan membawa cabaran negara bersaing di dalam Kelas Super Eco siri perlumbaan Thailand Super Series (TSS) dari 3-5 Mei di Litar Antarabangsa Chang, manakala Hayden juga akan turut membuat penampilan sulungnya dalam Kejuaraan Supercar GT4.

Bagi Hayden, 19, ini merupakan tahun ketiganya bersaing dalam kejuaraan tersebut selepas menamatkan saingan sebagai naib juara keseluruhan pada 2022 dan menduduki tempat ke-3 keseluruhan tahun lepas sekaligus meletakkannya sebagai pemandu warga asing termuda dan paling cemerlang bersaing dalam TSS.

Mewakili pasukan baharu tahun ini – juga pasukan pemenang kejuaraan keseluruhan pada 2023 – Hayden akan memandu Suzuki Swift dan telah diberi mandat untuk mengetuai serangan 6 kereta untuk pasukan V-Are Pro Garage Racing.

“Saya diamanahkan memandu kereta pemenang kejuaraan tahun lepas, dan kereta yang jauh lebih baik dan lebih pantas berbanding kenderaan yang telah saya pandu selama 2 tahun lepas. Ini memberi perubahan yang sangat besar kepada harapan saya untuk merangkul kejuaraan keseluruhan kali ini. Namun begitu, terdapat peraturan baharu dikuatkuasakan musim ini bagi memastikan keseimbangan prestasi dan mengurangkan penguasaan Suzuki Swift bagi menjadikan perlumbaan lebih dekat. Mudah-mudahan ini tidak akan memberi kesan buruk kepada kereta,” kata Hayden.
Hayden juga akan membuat penampilan sulungnya dalam TSS The Super Series Supercar GT4 Class dengan memandu jentera Mercedes-Benz AMG GT4. Dia sebelum ini juga telah mencatatkan masa terpantas semasa ujian pra-musim.

“Ujian pra-musim berlangsung dengan sangat positif dan menjanjikan. Memandu kereta GT4 adalah satu pengalaman yang berbeza dan ia memerlukan saya untuk menjadi lebih tepat dengan segala-galanya dari segi pemanduan. Kelajuan pastinya jauh lebih tinggi dan ini juga bermakna titik brek yang berbeza. Keputusan untuk naik ke GT4 adalah selaras dengan aspirasi saya berkembang sebagai pemandu profesional dan bersaing dalam kelas perlumbaan yang lebih tinggi. Walau bagaimanapun, penampilan ini adalah berdasarkan setiap pusingan, dan kesinambungan akan sangat bergantung pada sama ada saya boleh meraih penajaan yang mencukupi untuk bergerak ke hadapan."

Mengambil bahagian dalam duia perlumbaan yang berbeza pada masa yang sama bagaimanapun, mempunyai pengorbanannya dan ini bermakna Hayden hanya akan mempunyai masa kurang daripada 30 minit untuk bersiap sedia untuk perlumbaan GT4 selama 1 jam selepas menamatkan aksi Super Eco 12 pusingan.
Bagi adik lelakinya Aaron yang berusia 16 tahun, keputusan untuk berlumba di Thailand dibuat berdasarkan prestasinya meraih kedudukan podium dalam siri perlumbaan GAZOO Racing Vios Challenge dan GAZOO Racing Sprint Cup. Dia akan menyertai perlumbaan bersama pasukan Pipekids Racing, pasukan yang sama yang telah berjaya memacu abangnya Hayden meraih tempat ketiga keseluruhan dalam Kelas Super Eco tahun lepas.

“Saya sangat bersyukur kerana pasukan telah meletakkan kepercayaan mereka kepada saya. Saya jelas sangat teruja kerana ini akan menjadi perlumbaan antarabangsa pertama saya. Matlamat saya ke pusingan pertama adalah untuk menamatkan saingan di kedudukan10 teratas kerana ini adalah kelas yang sangat kompetitif,” kata Aaron.

“Tumpuan akan diberikan terhadap melaraskan persediaan kereta untuk prestasi maksimum. Ini akan membantu menetapkan asas untuk prestasi saya di sepanjang kejohanan. Hayden telah berjaya membuktikan kereta yang akan saya pandu musim ini mampu meraih kemenangan dan ini meningkatkan tahap keyakinan saya.

“Saya belum berpeluang menguji kereta itu tetapi saya sangat kagum dengan tenaga pasukan Pipekids Racing. Walaupun ini baru tahun kedua mereka berada di dalam kejuaraan, pasukan itu telah mencapai kemajuan yang luar biasa dan sangat komited dalam meningkatkan prestasi mereka. Mereka telah melalui sat fasa pembelajaran yang begitu curam dan saya bangga dengan apa yang telah mereka capai dalam tempoh yang amat singkat.

Saya juga komited untuk memberikan yang terbaik untuk membantu pasukan mencapai lebih banyak kejayaan tahun ini.”

Wing Hin Motorsports capped off an incredibly successful 2023 season with a class win in its debut at the 10-hour Idemitsu Super Endurance 600 Southeast Asia Trophy at the Chang International Circuit in Thailand.

All three of its entries successfully made the finish line from a grid of 64 cars, with the #438 Toyota Vios piloted by Malaysian touring car champions Boy Wong and Dannies Ng in the D4 Class taking victory and finishing 9th overall; the #338 Toyota Yaris driven by Naquib Azlan and touring car driver Mitchell Cheah clinching 4th in the D3 Class and 10th overall; and the #339 Toyota Yaris helmed by 2023 Sepang 1000KM Endurance Race (S1K) winners Amer Harris and Nabil Azlan finishing 7th in D3 Class and 18th overall.

The win by the #438 Toyota Vios also marks the car’s second endurance race victory as the same car had gone on to win the 2022 edition of the Sepang 1000KM Endurance Race (S1K) and finished 3rd in this year’s event. Wing Hin Motorsports also went on to win this year’s Sepang 1000KM Endurance Race (S1K) with the #339 Toyota Yaris and clinchied 4th in the #338.

Victory in the 10-hour Idemitsu Super Endurance 600 Southeast Asia Trophy also makes it’s a triple celebration for Wing Hin Motorsports in Thailand this year. It had earlier won the D5 Class in Idemitsu Super Endurance 400 Minutes race in September, and also clinched the overall Idemitsu Super Turbo Championship Junior (Normally Aspirated) Class championship.

“This weekend’s race saw us competing in the D4 Class for our engine segment as well as the D3 Class for the overall race and we extremely ecstatic with the results albeit so many uncertainties and nerve-racking moments on the track,” said Wing Hin Motorsports Team Principal William Loh.

“We were confident we had a good package in all three cars and we had extensively rebuilt and prepared the cars after successful Sepang 1000KM Endurance Race (S1K), but we knew the road ahead was going to be a challenging one given the number of quality team entries in Thailand. Ending the year with a Class win, and to have all three cars finishing in the top 20 is nevertheless a great way to end the racing season. We will definitely be back, and even stronger.”

The #438 Toyota Vios win also the first time a Toyota has won the D4 Class since 2017.

From a field of 64 cars that started the race, the #338 Toyota Yaris proved the quickest, qualifying in 17th position, just ahead of the #339 Toyota Yaris on 18th position. At the 4-hour mark, the #338 was as high up as 6th overall and 1st in Class, while the #339 climbed as high as 10th overall and 4th in Class just aafter 5 hours of racing.

But it was the #438 Toyota Vios that ran a remarkable race. Starting from 36th on the grid, the #438 made its way up to 23rd overall in the first 30 minutes of the race and by the time the race reached its halfway mark at 5 hours, it was 14th overall and 4th in class. With 2 hours remaining, the pair of Ng and Wong piled on the pressure to climb up to 11th overall and 3rd in class.

All that hard work and preparation by the team to ensure a reliable car that would last the entire 10-hour race however, began paying off when the top three contenders began experiencing mechanical issues or forced into making unscheduled stops an hour before the chequered flag. The #438 surged ahead to complete 275 laps, one lap ahead of the #338, to finish 9th overall.

“It was also the result of our strategy throughout the race. It was decided from the very beginning that we would minimize our pit stops in exchange for longer driving stints. Yes, it was incredibly exhausting but eventually that game plan paid off handsomely with a great result. This is definitely the best result for me in 2023,” said Ng who had also finished 4th for Wing Hin Motorsports in this year’s Sepang 1000KM Endurance Race (S1K).

“Any endurance race is exhausting but the weather in Thailand made it slightly better for drivers - hovering around 16-18 degrees celcius - although this proved to be difficult in getting the tyres up to its optimum operating temperature. And that was precisely what happened to affect our qualifying time.”
