This micro project started to explain lighting techniques in Blender for my talk at Blendiberia 2024. While it’s a simple scene, I recorded the entire process, unsure what to do with it later.

The talk took place on November 9th, and honestly, I’d almost forgotten about this project until I stumbled upon it yesterday. Inspired, I decided to create a timelapse to share with you all!

The concept, Phone Repair Shop, is by the talented Tom Eichacker, and I paired it with music from one of my favorite games, Machinarium.

Este microproyecto comenzó como una forma de explicar técnicas de iluminación en Blender para mi charla en la Blendiberia 2024. Aunque es una escena sencilla, grabé todo el proceso sin saber muy bien qué hacer con él después.

La charla tuvo lugar el 9 de noviembre y, honestamente, ya casi había olvidado este proyecto hasta que ayer me lo encontré por casualidad. Inspirado, decidí crear este timelapse para compartirlo con ustedes.

El concepto, Phone Repair Shop, es del talentoso Tom Eichacker, y lo acompañé con música de uno de mis juegos favoritos, Machinarium.

Opening of El Pollo Loco in Monterrey 1979.
Watching the Fallout series, and seeing that they put the Red Rocket gas station from Fallout 4 reminded me how much I like it. This inspired me to do some concept art, mixing Googie Architecture and a bit of Ken Anderson's style and El Pollo Loco, and this ended up in a Retro-Fiction Polloloquesque project.
I'm still studying concept art, and it gives me much pleasure to take the fear out of creating my ideas, rather than simply translating a ready-made drawing from 2D to 3D.
The only way to get better is by doing, studying, then doing again, then studying again, and doing more.

This is not a project paid for by El Pollo Loco, it's just for the love and nostalgia I have for my childhood memories. I also want to clarify that this business was born in Guasave, Sinaloa.

Today, I got 3D World magazine #310, which has an extensive article about my work.

I am very grateful for all the good luck that has come my way in my professional career as a 3D artist. The decision to stop being a programmer and have "economic security" to focus on my passions, such as art, was very difficult. Still, it improved my life radically, mentally, emotionally, financially, and surely others that I can't imagine.

I'm very grateful to 3D World magazine for showcasing my work!

Estoy muy agradecido por todas la suerte que se ha aparecido en el trayecto de mi carrera profesional como artista 3D. Tomar la decisión de dejar de ser programador y tener una "seguridad económica" para enfocarme en mis pasiones, como el arte, fue una decisión muy difícil, pero mejoró mi vida radicalmente, mentalme, emocionalmente, economicamente y seguramente otras mas que no se me vienen a la mente.

Quiero agradecer a Onem Studio por la invitación a dar una charla sobre mi trabajo este viernes pasado.
También me dio mucho gusto reencontrarme con amistades que no veía desde hace mucho tiempo y conocer por primera ves a otros. Fué una experiencia muy linda poder platicar y tomarme unas cervezas, es algo que me gustaría repetir en un futuro no muy lejano. Principalmente lo de las cervezas. XD

The cosmonaut continues to explore but encounters a dead-end.

These are the last images before publishing the complete project. This is a collaboration with NVIDIA Studio to test a 3080Ti and create a video series for their YouTube channel, and the original concept is made by the artist Mattias Adolfsson.

This is the first time I have used QuadSpinner Gaea, and I love the program. It is the most intuitive and artistic way possible to make terrains.

Lunar Rover
Close-up and Wide shot

This project is a collaboration with NVIDIA Studio to test a 3080Ti and create a video series for their YouTube channel.
The original concept is by the artist Mattias Adolfsson, whom I admire a lot. I have rendered his great work before with the Dj Electro Lizzard project.

The Lunar Rover project continues with the same visual language of previous projects, a stop-motion cartoon to keep the same visual universe.

I want to share some images before releasing the final shots. In this case, A close-up of the Lunar Rover and a Wide Shot with the cosmonaut exploring.

In the following days, I will publish more images, and the final project will be released on the same day as the last video of the tutorial series on the Nvidia Studio channel.

I want to show the first video of the Lunar Rover project process, this project was done in collaboration with Nvidia Studio, and these videos will be published one by one until the final project.
I enjoyed doing this project, and having a 3080Ti improved the workflow. Soon I will share more videos and information about this project.
Quiero mostrar el primer video del proceso del proyecto Lunar Rover, este proyecto fue hecho en colaboración con Nvidia Studio y estos videos irán publicándose uno a uno, hasta finalizar con el proyecto final.

This project has been a collaboration with Adobe Substance, based on the concept "The Barbershop" by artist Nikolai Lockertsen.
After two years without posting any personal projects, I'm happy to share something really special to me, what I've been working on for quite some time.
