#Convocasion2023 5,000 people registered, but even so we’re expecting closer to 7,000! 🤯Watching all the different teams working today, I’ve been awestruck at the magnitude of this event. I’m am such a small part of this, but even so I’m excited to be a part of it. My prayer is that the images I capture will convey what God is going to do here.

Interview with Rubén & Cheli - #1
Last year I was asked to film a series of interview questions with a couple of my Spanish teachers. They shared their beautiful testimony of growing up, and their life at Roca Blanca.

I've never done spoken-word poetry before, much less in Spanish. So of course, for one of my level five final projects, that's what I chose to do, where the goals were to use some of the adjectives, adverbs, and Spanish phrases that I learned throughout the course. When I got back to Canada, I filmed it and created this short video.
Storytime
Storytime. I’ve been fighting a cold the past couple days, so this morning I decided to make myself some oatmeal. I don’t remember if they do this in Canada, but here zinc is added to the oatmeal in order to help immune systems.
Everything was great, until I noticed a couple of dark bugs in the oatmeal I was cooking. I took them out, but then remembered how my friend Hannah told me that there are eggs in flour, which makes sense but I never fully thought about it. I decided to inspect my container of oatmeal, and lo and behold, not just the bugs, but their larvae. They’re harmless, and we often eat bugs here anyway (like giant ants - “chicatanas” - which are a delicacy here, and chapulines- locusts). Still, I couldn’t help but feel a little mortified. That container went straight into the garbage.
But as for the oatmeal I already cooked? Well, I’m not sure what grossed me out more, that the bugs had hatched, or that I still decided to eat the oatmeal, fully knowing there was some thoroughly cooked larvae in there.
You’re welcome. #missionarylife
