MALAWI TO CELEBRATE WORLD TEACHERS' DAY IN MZUZU
All is set for a grand celebration of World Teachers' day, which will be commemorated in the City of Mzuzu on 18th October.
The day is celebrated every year on 5th October.
Speaking to GD TV, chairperson of the organizing committee of the celebration, Joseph Nkhata says they have selected four teachers from every district in Malawi to attend the commemorations at the Grand Palace Hotel in Mzuzu. The ceremony will start with a solidarity march from Mzuzu High Court to Grand Palace Hotel.
Two teachers are from the primary school section while the other two are from the secondary school section, one male and one female.
The best performing teachers from the districts will receive prizes including bicycles and cash.
Nkhata underscored the importance of celebrating the day. saying teachers are responsible for forging all professions including lawyers, doctors and journalists who are what they are today because of a teacher.
Last year, the commemorations were held at Mount Soche Hotel , while in 2021, activities marking the day took place at Crossroads Hotel in Lilongwe.
