Edna Navaya, the former Moderator of the Blantyre Synod of the CCAP, has died.

Rev. Anderson Juma, the General Secretary of the Synod has confirmed to stating that Navaya passed away this morning at a hospital in Blantyre after battling illness for some time.

Rev. Navaya was ordained as a minister of word and sacrament around the year 2001.

Five people are feared dead after a truck they were traveling in overturned at Nyungwe in Chiradzulu this morning.

Sub Inspector Yohane Chidenga of Namadzi Police said details of the accident remain sketchy, but more people have been injured.

He said the vehicle was traveling from Bangwe, Blantyre to Machinga on a religious trip.

Two recruit police constables from Limbe Police Training School in Blantyre have been killed in a road accident in the wee hours of today, Friday, while on a morning exercise.

National Police spokesperson Peter Kalaya has confirmed that the accident occured around 02:00 am near the Independence Arch on the Kamuzu Highway after a Central Poultry truck ran over the two.

An unspecified number of other trainees have been rushed to Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital in the city where they are being treated for various degrees of injury.

*Traditional Authority Mpama Chiradzulu has died.*

Minister of Youth Sports and Culture, Richard Chimwendo Banda made the announcement in Lilongwe a few minutes ago.

Mpama was in a meeting alongside other senior traditional leaders at Capital Hotel in Lilongwe when he reportedly left the room because he was not feeling well.

According to Chimwendo Banda, while outside he collapsed and was rushed to Kamuzu Central Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Said Chimwendo Banda, "I regret to announce that as well meaning Malaŵians we can't proceed with this meeting. The president has already been informed and some of the leaders will have to leave for Chiradzulu for the burial ceremony."

The meeting was a chiefs' forum on natural resources management and the transition to sustainable agriculture in Malawi.

Goodall No More!

Former Finance Minister Goodall Gondwe, who was also Vice President (North) for the former governing Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has died.

He passed on Tuesday evening in Lilongwe, according to DPP Treasurer General and Rumphi North Legislator Jappie Mhango.

While details remain sketchy, Mhango has told us this morning that Gondwe had a fruitful discussion with DPP members at his residence in Lilongwe, until around 8pm on Tuesday.

"He called us to talk about unity in the party and the direction that we need to take. I left around 8pm. However, I was called late in the evening around 10pm that he was not feeling well.

"We took him to Adventist Hospital, where doctors told us that he was already dead when he got there. We have lost a pillar and I am, speechless. He was a father to me," said Mhango.

Police in Zomba have arrested a mother and a daughter for allegedly killing a man.

The two suspects, Dorothy Luciano, 35, and Aida Justen 19, are suspected to have killed Felix Nansonvile, a husband to Dorothy.

They both hail from Lipole Village in Senior Chief Mlumbe in Zomba.

According to Zomba Police Station deputy public relations officer, Aaron Chilala, it is suspected that the deceased was involved in an extra marital affair the development that angered the wife and the daughter.

Chilala stated that on Monday night, Nansonvile left home as usual to meet his girlfriend unaware that his wife and his daughter were following him.

"When they found him, the wife and daughter beat him severely. Well wishers rescued him and rushed him to Zomba Central Hospital where he was pronounced dead due to internal injuries," Chilala said.

The two suspectsbare in police custody waiting to appear before court to answer the charge of murder.

The body of journalist, Nomsa Mkandawire Taulo, a former Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) and Malawi Institute of Journalism employee has been laid to rest at HHI cemetery in Blantyre.

Scores of people attended the sendoff, whose eulogies described her as someone who worked hard to develop her home and country.

Until her death, Taulo was working with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in South Sudan as a Communications specialist and innovations analyst.

She died suddenly in Lilongwe on Saturday few hours after her arrival from South Sudan where she was working since last year.

ADMARC staff has faulted their employer for further delaying to pay them their three months dues.

Workers claim, they were only paid their February salary contrary to a circular issued two weeks ago which indicated that they would access the February salary on 27 April, 2023 and March salary on 2 May 2023, while the following day, get their April perks.

They say, this has put them at a financial distress.

ADMARC spokesperson, Agnes Chikoko Ndovi has told Zodiak Online, today, that all is now in place; explaining that the delay has been due to a payroll cleaning after saying off some workers.
