BACKGROUND
In April, 2017, Girl Effect will launch its first new brand since the creation of Yegna in 2013 in Ethiopia. The new brand will be based in Malawi and called “Zathu”.
At its core there will be a group of boys and girls who come together to play music. Their story will play out across five products: music videos, songs, a radio show, mobile sites and club booklets. These products will reach targeted audiences primarily through broadcast distribution but, since Malawi has one of the worlds lowest GDPs per head, the reach of TV and radio is relatively low.
