HKTDC Education & Careers Expo draws talent scouts
On-site recruitment and inspiring seminars to guide you to success
Organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), the 32nd HKTDC Education & Careers Expo runs from 2 to 5 February at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC).
700 organisations, including local, mainland and foreign educational institutions, various Consulates General, public organisations and private companies will offer information on education in 20 countries and regions as well as employment opportunities. Admission to the event is free.
Following the resumption of quarantine-free travel between Mainland China and Hong Kong and the removal of most pandemic restrictions, many industries are enlarging their talent pool to grow in this new normal and seize post-pandemic opportunities. This is particularly the case for the travel and tourism and catering industries. As the world returns to normal, the Expo offers a unique and insightful platform for students to network with educational institutions and employers.
The Expo offers designated zones under two major categories, Education and Careers, giving the public information related to further education and opportunities in the workplace.
In the Careers-themed Zones, representatives from professional bodies, recruitment platforms, government departments and public and private organisations will share the latest career information and will offer more than 2,800 job openings. Employers at the Recruitment Square Zone will accept job applications and interview candidates on-site.
The Education-themed Zones will provide the latest admission information of local, mainland and international universities, post-secondary institutions, continuing education institutes and more, while a number of internship and job opportunities will be introduced at the Youth Zone.
More than 80 informative events will be held during the Expo, including seminars on further education and career opportunities. Industry experts will share valuable insights and experiences, including Mr Henry Lee, Account Director, Talent and Learning Solutions of LinkedIn, who will highlight the latest trends in Hong Kong’s labour market and offer job-hunting tips for the digital age. Mr Sunny Chan, director and screenwriter of Hong Kong films Table for Six and Men on the Dragon, will reflect on his inspiring journey from screenwriter to director. Fataunt, a registered nurse and YouTuber, will talk about how he became a KOL when attending university. Mr Siu Yan-ho, doctoral lecturer, will share his journey from being an under-achiever to becoming a doctoral lecturer.
Catering to industry demand, the Expo will feature a range of Career Theme Days. Co-organised with the Vocational Training Council (VTC), the first Theme Day will be VPET: Skilling Talent for the Future (2 February); followed by the GBA Opportunities Theme Day (3 February); Exploring Construction Industry (4 February) co-organised with the Hong Kong Institute of Construction (HKIC); and the Slasher Generation Theme Day (5 February).
The Expo will feature several emerging study hotspots in Education Theme Days, focusing on the European Union (2 February), United Kingdom (3 February), France (4 February) and Germany (5 February), which provide in-depth introductions to these popular overseas education destinations, including admission requirements and process, campus life and more.
