Multimodal imaging demonstrated an unusual complex inner retinal structure with epiretinal hyperreflective features in a patient with blurred vision after cataract surgery. Genetic testing showed no COL4A1-3 variations; vitrectomy is under consideration to clarify the diagnosis. https://ja.ma/49bswZe

A case of rapid, severe bilateral vision loss in a patient with metastatic bladder cancer revealed cancer-associated retinopathy potentiated by pembrolizumab immunotherapy. Aggressive immunosuppression and plasmapheresis were associated with partial visual recovery despite profound initial deficits. https://ja.ma/4iVmW0w

In a national analysis, fluoroquinolones were the most common first-line therapy for bacterial keratitis, most frequently as monotherapy, followed by aminoglycosides and vancomycin. Despite guideline recommendations, cefazolin use was rare, while vancomycin prescribing increased over time. https://ja.ma/48Afgx9

Among US adults aged ≥65 years, the association between impaired visual function and falls was stronger in homes with environmental hazards such as missing grab bars, tripping hazards, or broken flooring.

These findings highlight the potential for targeted home safety interventions to reduce fall risk in older adults with poor vision.

Pharmacologic inhibition of the Hippo signaling pathway via YAP/TEAD inhibitor therapy was associated with peripapillary chorioretinal atrophy similar to findings in inherited TEAD1-related disease.

This suggests Hippo pathway activity is important for retinal maintenance in adults, and new therapeutic agents targeting this pathway may require increased clinical attention to ocular adverse effects among treated patients. https://ja.ma/3YfsMjy
