Kazdanga Park is the largest in Latvia (~196 ha), so you can go jogging, running, biking, skiing, or simply walking here, slowly enjoying nature and the historical park.
The park has 2 parts (part of the Valata park and Šefer's grove), which are connected by the lake bridge built over the Kazdanga Dzirnezeru.
With the construction of the new lake footbridge and observation tower, visitors have an excellent opportunity to combine the nature trails in both parts of the park (part of the Valata park and Šefer's grove) on both sides of the Kazdanga Dzirnezer and take a route with a total distance of 9km
Kazdang was first mentioned in historical sources in 1350, when it was staged for the Vigant brothers
The mill lake and mill were built in 1840, they have been completely rebuilt and only the outer facade gives a small glimpse of those times, whereas the mill dam is very well preserved. Dzirnezer, or mill pond, has been floated on the Alokste river and there are many springs in its bottom and banks, the depth is not the same. there are always many ponds in the territory of Kazdanga Park, because Kazdanga was the first place where pond farming started around 1870.
Kazdangas parks ir lielākais Latvijā (~196 ha), līdz ar to šeit var gan nūjot, gan skriet, gan braukt ar velosipēdu, gan slēpot, gan vienkārši pastaigāties, lēnām izbaudot dabu un vēsturisko parku.
Parkam ir 2 daļas (Valāta parka daļa un Šēfera birzs), kuras savieno pār Kazdangas Dzirnezeru izbūvētā ezera laipa.
Līdz ar jaunās ezera laipas un skatu torņa izbūvi, apmeklētājiem ir pavērusies lieliska iespēja apvienot dabas takas abās parka daļās (Valāta parka daļa un Šēfera birzs) abpus Kazdangas Dzirnezera un iziet maršrutu ar kopējo distanci 9km
Kazdangas vēstures avotos pirmoreiz minēts 1350. gadā, kad to izlēņoja brāļiem Vīgantiem
Dzirnezers un dzirnavas būvētas 1840. gadā, tās ir pilnībā pārbūvētas un tikai ārējā fasāde sniedz nelielu ieskatu par toreizējiem laikiem, turpretī dzirnavu dambis ir ļoti labi saglabājies. Dzirnezers jeb dzirnavu dīķis ir uzpludināts uz Alokstes upes un tā dzelmē un krastos ir daudz avotu, dziļums ir nevienāds. pastāvīgi Kazdangas parka teritorijā ir daudz dīķu, jo Kazdanga bija pirmā vieta ,kur ap 1870. gadu sāka nodarboties ar dīķsaimniecību.
