Hello trumpet players,
Today I would like to show my “cockpit”. This is where the first acoustic research takes place. Something looks chaotic on the table, but all test parts are arranged according to a certain system.
BSC-TR1S “New Standard” and BSC-TR2B “Big Horn” have received very positive feedback.
They carry much more value and quality than €980. The trumpet lives and continues to develop with me and the trumpet players!
Now I'm working with roots from “French Besson” and US trumpet for the first time. Probably many trumpeters today don't know more about traditional French playing of brass even in France. I was able to experience this tradition personally. I can recommend you to listen to the great master “Maurice André”. If I try to describe in words “elegant and precise”. Compared to the tradition of natural trumpet in castles which has cultivated music history from classical and romantic periods from Beethoven to Mahler, French are very soloistically melodic with typical vibrato. For me, the “Arban School” by Jean Baptiste Arban, which is popular for us trumpeters, is questionable as to how much “Cornet à Pistons” is meant instead of the German Rotary Valve Trumpet in Wagner or Brahms. In any case it is 2 different tradition and identity. But important fact is that French tradition came to New Orleans and nurtured talented musicians who later became a part of jazz history.
My approach was brilliance/sizzling and free airflow in the 3rd octave. In principle, the brilliance of a symphonic orchestra or so-called “commercial music” is no different. However, the biggest difference in function I see is that the “horn section” in a band plays directly into the microphone, but in an orchestra the “projection” has to carry the sound into the hall and at the same time make harmony with other instruments, even in piano. In addition, the pop and dance band demands precision of drums from the trumpeter, even at extreme high notes, and sizzling must be there immediately without delay. The trumpet often vibrates in your hand like water in an oily pan. “Be careful, it´s hot!”
After a week in my cockpit, I am one step closer to the cause of what is blocking the 3rd octave. BSC-TR1S already has some advantages in keeping the 3rd octave free in construction. Now I can serve a little more as a trumpet player on stage and in music school to expand their performance and enrich the band's sound with less risk and less effort.
Thank you and Gracias!
