Leqhaoe suspended, anti - graft investigates

MASERU - The Lesotho PostBank (LPB) managing director, Molefi Leqhaoe who is serving his last term this year has been suspended with two chiefs (for sales and digital banking) for the past two weeks while the anti - graft investigates.

In their absence, Mahase Mahooana, Lineo Masupha and Thuso Ramatlapeng would be acting respectively.

Leqhaoe once behind the wheel turned things around although it was not easy at all.
But for the first time, LPB in January to December 2014, made a profit of M4,9m and in 2015, was M7m.

And made sure that every March 31, they produce Audited Financial Statements, to be released for the public consumption at the end of September.

From 2005/13, Lesotho Government through the communications, science and technology ministry has been paying the salaries of the LPB staff.

A product of Fokothi (LP) didn't basked on the sun gathering vitamin C, but introduced digital banking to minimise fraud and theft and be adaptive with the 4IR.

"LPB was no exceptional in 2020, as it was hard hit by the SARS Covid - 19, staff operated from homes and instalments were tailor made to enable their customers to repay their loans and overdrafts. And our clients stood at 145 000 in March 2022" , Leqhaoe said.

He joined the banking profession as a storekeeper in one of the foreign banks and further his studies even today. Also assisted small business from Tele to Mechachane.

Central Bank of Lesotho which regulates the financial institutions doesn't have to make an appointment to inspect our books and does its own audit to establish if there's financial stability.

In the pipeline, Leqhaoe was aiming to extend a hand to Basotho who are outside the country, in diaspora and that their banking cards are being recognised in the SACU and SADC member states.

Official Ts'enoloFm on several occasions tried to call "Selala se qhoba pelesa" but his mobile phone was busy like a bee and he ignored the missed calls.
