Chief Finance Officer (Patterson Grade E2)

Job Purpose:
The incumbent is responsible for developing, implementing, reviewing, monitoring, and evaluating the comprehensive finance strategy of the company. Additionally, they oversee the complete finance function of the company to foster growth, safeguard company assets, and furnish information essential for senior management's decision-making. The individual in this role provides direction and guidance to all departments within the Finance Division and oversees the performance of the entire finance team.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
A. Financial Management
· Formulates financial policies and forecasting that are relevant to NFP’s business model and strategies;
· Generates, mobilizes, and manages the use of company funds in order to fulfill all business objectives;
· Produces relevant legislative and management financial reports, as per financial and accounting standards, to all key stakeholders.
B. Accounting Management
· Produces accounting reports that track company financial transactions and thus create the fiscal history of the company;
· Keeps records and analyzes financial information and oversees monetary transactions and expenditures from business operations;
· Prepares financial statements for the company;
· Oversees accurate and legitimate payment of funds into and out of the company’s operating accounts.
C. Internal Control
· Develops and implements policies, procedures, and standards related to management and control of the Company’s budget;
· Manages the audit process for annual and interim reports;
· Identifies internal control weaknesses and risks by continuously evaluating financial systems and reviewing financial data for completeness;
· Identifies, investigates, and analyzes potential financial improvements;
D. Procurement
· Develops and implements the company’s overall procurement strategy (incl. policy, standards & procedures in line with, & in compliance with all national legislation and best practice on procurement);
· Receives procurement requests from originating officers, checking that the proposed procurement is within the approved procurement plan and that budgeted funds are available before the commencement of procurement proceedings;
· Co-coordinates the preparation of specifications, terms of reference, short lists or advertisements, and pre-qualification, tender, or request for quotation documents. Where so required by the Tender Committee, submission of documentation for review and approval by the Tender Committee before issue
· Plans and coordinates the activities of the Procurement Unit including managing the development and implementation of the procurement plan.
Required Qualifications, Knowledge, Experience, Competencies & Skills:
Qualifications & Knowledge:
a) CA/BSc/B. Com in Accounting, Finance, or relevant field;
b) MSc/MBA is a plus;
c) Advanced Excel skills and in-depth knowledge of financial accounting and reporting software applications.
Work Experience:
a) 10 years of finance experience with at least 5 years’ experience in a senior management position;
b) Member of a Professional Accounting body for 5 years;
c) Industry finance experience is an added advantage.
