Cassell Kouh Attends First Congress in Nine years
- Promises 50k for each club
The last time LFA former Vice President attended the annual football association gathering was in 2015
One year following the elective congress that saw him overwhelmingly voted as Vice President for Operations, defeating long time football administrator-the late Adolph Lawrence.
Nine years down the line, Cassell Anthony Kuoh Sr. was seen attending the 28th Ordinary Congress as representative of FC Kallon-Liberia, a club he recently acquired.
Kouh came to the limelight in Liberian football in 2010 when his club ,now defunct, FC Fassell took the football arena by storm.
Fassell was one of the most organized clubs, and still holds the record of highest transfer when they paid over US$5000. 00 for the service of Nuzohn Kolala.
Kuoh who returned from the United States in 2023 after serving a seven-year jail sentence, has since announced his intention to contest as President of the LFA, and heโs agreeably the incumbent - Mustapha Raji biggest challenger in the pending 2026 elections.
But during Saturdayโs Congress, only three stakeholders were opposed to most of the proposals, something Kouh said wouldnโt have happen if the voting procedure was held secretly.
According to him, the clubs voted in favor of what he termed as bad proposals out of fear, and their decisions donโt reflect the actuality on ground.
He said, majority of the Clubs are lacking the adequate finances that would allow them to make sound and independent decisions.
โWhat we witnessed here today will be completely different from the secret ballot elections that will be held in 2026.
โThe people were afraid to put their No Cards up, because if they did so openly, they would be targeted like Raji did to others who disagreed with him.
โWe have come to the realization that Liberiaโs Football wouldnโt develop in the absence of money. So
we will build the Clubs financial capacity to make them independent.
โAnd how we intend to do it is to give each Club in the First and Second Division, and Womenโs Upper League US$50,000 in the first two years of our takeover, and that amount will be increased to US$75,000 in the third and fourth years.
โWe intend to be at the LFA for just two terms to fix our football, the Chief Financier of Kuoh Foundation told journalists minutes after LFA 28th Ordinary Congress adjourned on April 13, 2024.
Cassell Kuoh further narrated that the LFA doesnโt need to rely only on Orange-Liberia and few other companies for sponsorship. As president, he will lobby with his international partners to source the rightful sponsorship to develop Liberiaโs football.
IKuoh purchased First Division outfit FC Kallon-Liberia; a Club battling relegation by then for a fee reported to be around US$30,000.
As new owner and president of FC Kallon-Liberia, formerly Muscat FC, Kuoh has revealed that his Club will be renamed FC Fassell for the 2024-2025 league season, and onward.
The Liberian businessman paid the players and members of the technical staff two months salary arrear owed them by the Club previous owners on the very day he took over the team.
And recently, he paid each member of the team US$200 for escaping relegation to the second tier of Liberian football on the last day of the 2023-2024 league season.
