In the ongoing investigation of an alleged r**e case involving a deputy minister in Liberia and a 14 years old minor, Liberia National police(LNP) Confirms Minor Was Tampered with.
Monrovia, Liberia – September 17, 2025— The Inspector General of the Liberia National Police has confirmed that the minor involved in the recent alleged r**e incident at the Ministry of Youth and Sports was indeed tampered with, as initially reported.
The police chief, however, stopped short of confirming whether Deputy Minister Bryant McGill was directly involved in the act. While investigations are ongoing, the Inspector General stated that medical and forensic evidence will be required to supports claims that the child was violated.
The case has sparked public outcry, especially due to the alleged involvement of a high-ranking government official. However, IG Coleman and a team from the Ministry of Gender said that they have spoken with the victim, the alleged perpetrator, family members to fully ascertained the claims made against the Deputy Minister. He however confirmed that the minister has not been arrested, but he is cooperating with the investigators.
‘‘We are committed to a thorough, impartial investigation and have urged the public to remain calm while the process continues.
Our judicial correspondent said no official charges have yet been filed against the accused, but the police said they have written the court for a search warrant to be issued on the accuse cell phones for forensic investigation.
Meanwhile, the Liberia National Police IG has promised to update the public as more facts are established.
