Emergency Medical Response Builds Capacity of Health facilities Staff, Others in First Aid Management.
-July 9, 2022-A Month long workshop for Health Facilities staff and other actors in first Aid management has ended in Monrovia, with a commitment by participants to demonstrate skills acquired in the oxygen administration. A program host by the Road Safety Secretariat with funding from the World Bank.
The training was held at Cape Hotel liberty conference hall right within the vicinity of the Hotel.
At the certification program, a brief history of the Advanced/Basic Life Support and Trauma Emergency Management Program was done by Mr. Micheal K. Gaye, Lead Person representing The Emergency Medical Response at the Road Safety Secretariat house in Ministry of Transport.
For his part, he told the participants it wasn't an easy task, to get health workers sitting in that hall, it took him years to convince the supporting partners for the implementation of said program.
Based on that, he encouraged participants to take advantage of the knowledge they have acquire from the training.
Mr. Gaye said the Road Safety Secretariat was not just interested in training people from the health sector, but it was necessary to train beneficiaries for the proper first Aid and Basic Life Support management.
“We’re not just interested in training you without understanding the usage of oxygen administration. We’re also keen on post crashes in Liberia”.
“Because if you’re not properly trained on these basic health and first response management when cases starts to come, you may not know how to deal with it on the sense”.
Mr. Gaye used the opportunity to laud the efforts of the development partners and others for the training.
At first, the training started with Community Health Officers (CHO) officers from the Liberia National police (LNP) traffic division, Liberia National Fire Service (LNFS), Transport Unions and stakeholders from the Motorcycle and Tricycle Union.
The participants was tuned over by the training Lead Facilitator Mr. Togbe C. Bernard to the Director; the Emergency Medical Response, Mark Luke.
In Mr. Bernard tuning over statement, he said it was a pleasure to lead the team that trained these health professionals.
He elaborated by encouraging every participants to take the lead in their various assigned health facilities and make the system more better.
At the close of the training workshop, the participants extolled RSS and its’s partners for building their capacity. They expressed optimism that the knowledge gained will be used to properly manage and maintain Accident cases that will be taken at their various health facilities.
