In a significant development for Manchester United, it was announced on Sunday that Ratcliffe's INEOS company would be taking control of football operations. The chairman of INEOS, a global chemicals giant, also pledged substantial funds for future investments in the club's Old Trafford stadium. This decision marks the end of a long process that began 13 months ago, when United's current owners considered alternative strategies for the club's growth. Ratcliffe, a committed fan of the club himself, expressed his desire to return United to their former glory, with the support of the INEOS Sport group.

Real Madrid secured a 4-1 victory against Villarreal. The moment of triumph came when England midfielder, Jude Bellingham, superbly headed in a cross from Luka Modric to claim his 13th league goal of the season. After an offside decision was overturned by VAR, Rodrygo added a second goal for Real.

Although Villarreal's Jose Luis Morales managed to halve the deficit, Brahim Diaz and Modric quickly responded with two goals to seal the win. This win is crucial for Real Madrid, who were recently displaced from the top of the table by Girona. However, Girona could reclaim the top spot if they come out victorious against Alaves on Monday. Despite the triumph, Real Madrid suffered a setback as full-back David Alaba sustained a serious knee injury and was forced to leave the field in the first half.

Amid a series of criticisms and protests aimed at Mustapha I Raji, the President of the Liberia Football Association (LFA), Executive Committee member Murvee Gray has defended Raji against claims of poor performance.

Gray argues that the responsibility for the underperformance of the national football team lies with the government, not the LFA.

Gray also highlights the lack of financial support for football in Liberia compared to other countries, stating that without proper funding and support systems, the performance of players cannot be improved. Additionally, Gray emphasizes the need for sustainable programs and increased opportunities for players at the grassroots level.

Liberian People Party (LPP) led by Cllr. Tiawan Saye Gongloe has become the first political party to endorse Joseph N. Boakai, presidential candidate of the Unity Party. The decision comes shortly after the National Election Commission announced the dates for the 2023 presidential runoff. Cllr. Liberians worldwide commend Alexander B. Cummings, Standard Bearer of the Opposition Collaborating Political Party (CPP), for his remarkable efforts in maintaining peace and harmony in Liberia.

On Tuesday, Cummings surprised many by hosting both President George Mannh Weah and former Vice President Joseph N. Boakai at his residence in Monrovia. While the meeting's specifics remain private, Cummings, in a social media post, expressed his satisfaction in separately hosting both leaders. Tomorrow, the CPP will address the nation, disclosing the factors that will shape their decision regarding the runoff amidst concerns raised with the NEC.

As newcomers enter the fray, uncertainty looms over who will become Liberia's 55th House Speaker. The Independent Probe is diving deep into the profiles of these contenders vying for such a prestigious position.

Candidates are now forming alliances for various roles in the 55th House, including Deputy Speaker, Chairman of Ways, Means and Administration, Chairman of Executive, Judiciary, and Inauguration committees.

Among them, the incumbent Deputy House Speaker of the 54th Legislature, Hon. Cllr. J. In a shocking twist, three candidates, Alexander Cummings, Clarence Moniba, and Sarah Beyslow, have urged the National Elections Commission in Liberia to conduct a forensic audit on the ballot papers to determine the winners of the recent elections. Six(6) Things Affecting Young Liberians.

Liberian youths face a myriad of challenges that hinder the progress of Africa's oldest country. Unemployment, laziness, social media influence, drug and alcohol abuse, bad governance, and a messy education system all play significant roles in holding back the youth population.

With a massive fraction of Liberia's 5.5 million population being youths, it is crucial to address these issues.

1. Unemployment:

In particular, unemployment leads to an increase in crime and prevents the nation from moving forward. Today, 45% of Liberia's youthful population is unemployed.

2. Laziness:

The culture of laziness and lack of drive to acquire technical skills further exacerbates some of the many problems Liberian youths are facing: Many young Liberians prefer to sit idly at Intellectual Centers, Liquor Shops, and Gossip Forums the entire day and expect things to change for them. Instead of acquiring Vocational or Technical Skills Training or engaging in Creativity or Innovation, they prefer blaming the government.

Social media:

Is often misused, showcasing incompetence and insulting others. Many social media figures in Liberia are rich on Facebook but poor in real life; others use the social media platforms to Cyberbully, insult, and defame others, while other productive Liberians use it to positively market their Ideas, Brands, Products, and Organizations.

4. Drug and alcohol abuse:

It has plagued households, leading to mental illnesses and untimely deaths among youths, Liberia has become a transit for illicit drug trafficking in the West African Region thus, the future of Liberia is uncertain.

5. Bad governance and corruption:

It has denied youths their rights and hindered Liberia's growth. Bad governance and corruption have eaten the fabric of Liberia thus, Liberia has experienced low economic growth and less infrastructure development since its Independence in 1847.

6. Messy Education System:

The system lacks substance, with many youths focusing on obtaining certificates without truly understanding or being interested in the subjects they study. Besides, teachers are untrained, lack logistics, and have low earnings. The infrastructure of public schools around the country is very low cost and indecent for students.

In Conclusion:

To combat these challenges, concrete solutions must be put in place—such as job creation, educational reform, and policies that promote self-employment. With concerted efforts, Liberian youths can overcome these obstacles and help steer the nation toward a brighter future.

Sinkor- Dr. Urey Yarkpawolo, the Vice Standard Bearer of the Liberia People’s Party (LPP), has firmly denied rumors suggesting his support for President George Weah’s CDC in the upcoming runoff election. He clarified that any decision to support a party would be made collectively by the LPP.

The controversy began when Staton Witherspoon alleged that Dr. Yarkpawolo expressed willingness to support the CDC due to Vice President Jewel H. Taylor's affiliation. Dr. Yarkpawolo stressed the importance of transparency and setting the record straight during this crucial phase of Liberia’s electoral process.

MPC Standard Bearer Expresses Gratitude Despite Low Vote Count

The standard bearer of the Movement for Progressive Change (MPC) expressed gratitude to the thousands of Liberians who supported him in the recent elections. Despite receiving only 13,198 votes, constituting 0.72%, Mr. Freeman, a renowned businessman, remains optimistic. He claims to have evidence of gathering over 75,000 votes. The National Election Commission has counted 78.83% of the ballots so far.

The Liberian Council of Churches (LCC) and The Women’s Situation Room (WSR) have expressed deep concern over the premature victory statement made by the Secretary General of the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC).

The statement was made at a gathering on October 17, 2023, urging supporters to prepare for a victory celebration before the official results were announced by the National Elections Commission (NEC).

Despite the clear indication of a run-off election from 99% of the tally, the Secretary-General emphasized preparations for the inauguration in January. The LCC and WSR consider these remarks as provocative and potentially inciting violence. They urge the CDC Secretary General and other officials to exercise caution and wait for the final results announced by the NEC, even if a run-off election is declared.
