About 15 passengers have been reported dead and several others injured in a ghastly accident at Gomoa Okyereko on the Accra - Cape Coast highway.

The accident involved a Yutong bus travelling from Liberia to Liberia Camp near Budumburam with a fuel tanker.

Winneba Fire Station is at the scene effecting rescue.

A Liberian Woman, Nancy Pune is claiming that she is the biological mother of Barcelona- Ivorian Midfielder Frank kessie.

Nancy and two young men, who are said to be siblings of the Barcelona Star Franck Yannick Kessie, said he was born in Grand Gedeh, Liberia.

According to the lady, she has been worried and wants to be reunited with her son.

She appeared on OK CONVERSATION with Julius Jeh on Tuesday, May 9.

Grand Gedeh is a county in Liberia that shares border with Ivory Coast, Kessie currently represents Liberia at the international level.

Over the weekend, the Liberia Bankers Association held a dinner in honour of its outgoing President, Mr. George Mensah-Asante, and at the same time, inducted into office its new core of officials to steer the affairs of the Association.

🚨 𝐁𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 !!!

The lifeless body of an unidentified woman who is believed to be in her mid 40s has been discovered in a guest house in Ganta, Nimba County.

The unidentified woman's co**se was found by police in the F-2 Guest House situated in the J. W. Pearson Community on Saturday afternoon, May 6, 2023.

A receptionists' account at the Guest House revealed that the victim and an unnamed man believed to be her boyfriend booked a room (Room #4) at the F-2 Guest House at about 11:30pm on Thursday night, 4th May.

In furtherance, the reports revealed that the woman's lifeless body was discovered in their guest house's room on the afternoon of the following day, Friday May 5th with blood spilled all in the room - the unidentified boyfriend who is now suspected of commiting the crime has since not been seen.

Meanwhile, the co**se has been taken to the Gompa Funeral home whilst police in Ganta continue their preliminary investigation and search for the boyfriend who is now said to be on the run.

It is also yet to be established whether the victim and the suspected perpetrator are residents of Ganta.

Press Release
The Management of the Liberia Electricity Corporation (LEC) wishes to inform its valued customers that due to unforeseeable challenges with power generation in Cote d’Ivoire, CI Energies, the electricity supplier through the Transco-CLSG transmission lines, is no longer able to supply Liberia with electricity beyond contracted capacity.

The impact of such an unfortunate development is that LEC may not be able to meet domestic peak demand, which is currently 74 MW, well above the current generation capacity of the corporation.

LEC is hopeful that water inflow into the Mt. Coffee dam will improve over the coming days to enable the full operation of the dam. Until then, LEC may be required to undertake selective load-shedding to match electricity demand to the available capacity.

Liberia, World Bank Sign US$96m Financing Agreement for 60MW Solar Energy

The Liberian Government recently signed a US$96 million financing agreement with the International Development Association for the production of an additional 60MW of renewable energy in the country.

The agreement is part of a US$311 million financing package intended to scale up electricity access to millions of existing and prospective consumers through rapid deployment of grid-connected renewable energy in four countries including Liberia, Sierra Leone, Chad, and Togo.

It is an initiative of the World Bank under the Regional Emergency Solar Power Intervention Project (RESPITE), which is dedicated to alleviating electricity supply and supporting energy transition, amongst others.

Finance and Development Planning Minister Samuel D. Tweah signed on behalf of the Government of Liberia at a ceremony in Freetown, Sierra Leone.

“Died by Drowning”, Police Report Indicates

Liberia: Final Police report says 16 years old Gentle Bryant, who was recently found dead around the EBK Barracks in schefflin, Margibi County, died by drowning

Family members visited the Police headquarters in Monrovia on Tuesday to request final reports of the 16-year-old following his death during the Christmas day celebration.

In an interview at the LNP Headquarters, Mr. Jesse Bryant said his son was murdered in the EBK barracks, something he described as gruesomely evil. “My son was murdered. I am surprised that the police are doing this. They are not even aware we got permits to bury my child.

“I regret ever being a Liberian. I regret being born here. Why should the police compromise the case when my son's arms were broken and the boy toileted in his pants before he died?
We showed them the evidence. His tongue came out of his mouth. He had cuts on his head, and his ear was chipped with deep cuts. His eye came out. How will the police say
he died by drowning”?

The National County Sports Meet Protest Committee has released rulings into four protest cases it received during the group stage of the 2022/23 National County Sports Meet.
The committee chairman Malcolm Joseph said following investigations, Grand Gedeh County failed to provide evidence to the claim that Grand Cape Mount County fielded a non-Liberian into the competition Victor Sonni who uses two different names.
Cape Mount failed to prove their case that Grand Bassa County fielded four second division players against them.
The Committee also said Sinoe failed to show up to their protest hearing against B**g County.
Grand Bassa, however, won the protest against Grand Gedeh County to finish the group stage with six points in Group A.
Grand Bassa earlier accused Grand Gedeh of fielding a player who was on suspension against them in their 0-0 draw.

President George Weah will on December 28, 2022 dedicate the 2nd major Hospital built by his government from scratch.

According to an E-Mansion release,Wednesday’s dedication of the Emirates Hospital built in Bopolu, Gbarpolu County is consistent with his government’s flagship program, the Pro Poor Agenda for Prosperity and Development (PAPD) which, amongst other things, makes the expansion and modernization of the country’s health sector a compelling priority.

The Emirates Hospital is an outcome of a goodwill gesture and fruit of bilateral relations between the governments of the United Arab Emirates and Liberia.

The hospital is also a testament upholding the humanitarian values and vision shared and cherished by the Government of UAE. It further demonstrates the UAE’s commitment to the people of Liberia.

The Liberian Chief Executive is expected to be joined by government officials, members of the 54th National Legislature and Senior Officials from the United Arab Emirates, at the dedication on Wednesday.

President Weah is expected to pay tribute to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, and to the people of the UAE, for funding the Hospital’s construction.

Since he took the mantle of leadership in Liberia, President Weah has broken grounds for the construction of a horde of hospitals, to include the 100-bedroom Emirates Hospital and 14th Military Hospital, he had already dedicated.
