Oretha’s Collections CEO pushes for single currency in West Africa

Gbarnga businessman, Jarbah Garway is recommending the use of a single currency by ECOWAS member states.

Mr. Jarbeh Garway said the introduction of a single currency by ECOWAS will stimulate economic tractions and further boost trade among its member states.

The Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS, is a regional political and economic union of fifteen countries located in West Africa.

He stated that these countries share some similar aspirations for progress and as such it's important to use one currency to improve trade.

Mr Garway told Radio Gbarnga’s Business Talk on Monday that Liberians who travel to Ghana and other countries to procure goods are made to convert their money to other currencies before purchasing.

He added that banks charge fees for conversion, which lead to a loss in value when converting from one currency to another.

The Liberian entrepreneur noted that the idea of single currency will break conversion barriers and also reduce challenges business owners face in procuring goods.
