WAEC Boss Dale Gbotoe Announces 2024 WASSCE Results

The Head of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) in Liberia, Dale Gbotoe, has officially released the results of the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

Speaking at a press conference held at the council’s headquarters in Monrovia on Monday, September 16, Mr. Gbotoe revealed that the exams, conducted from May 15 to June 25, 2024, saw thousands of candidates sitting for nine subjects in total. Arts students sat for seven subjects, while Science candidates took a minimum of seven.

Gbotoe provided a detailed breakdown of the performance across various subjects, highlighting Economics and Biology as the highest-scoring subjects.

According to his report:

Economics: 26,760 candidates passed out of 44,376, yielding a pass rate of 60.32%.
Geography: 20,810 out of 48,354 candidates passed, resulting in a pass rate of 43.04%.

History: Of 43,018 candidates, 13,324 passed, giving a pass rate of 30.97%.
Literature: Only 1,518 of 42,788 candidates passed, resulting in a low pass rate of 3.55%.

English Language: 21,515 out of 47,255 candidates passed, with a pass rate of 45.3%.
Mathematics: 14,321 of 45,998 candidates passed, leading to a pass rate of 31.3%.

-Biology: 31,010 of 48,754 candidates passed, with a pass rate of 63.6%.

Chemistry: 12,726 of 40,098 candidates passed, resulting in a pass rate of 31.74%.

Physics: Gbotoe did not provide clear figures for this subject.

Gbotoe emphasized that Economics and Biology were the top-performing subjects, both achieving pass rates above 60%. He also noted that the overall pass rate, where candidates passed at least one subject, showed significant improvement compared to the first national WASSCE in 2018.

However, individual results will be abscessed beginning Wednesday, September 18, 2024.

This year’s WASSCE saw participation from candidates across Liberia and neighboring Guinea.

Oh yes, it's a great opportunity for the Ganta united Methodist School and the students of the institution, as one of their veteran student was awarded yesterday as the valedictorian of the 38th graduating class of GUMS.

He's not just a valedictorian, but also a mentor of so many quizzers of Nimba county.
This young man is no one else, but our friend, brother relative and loved one in person of G. Nyan Zeantoe who served as the quizzing captain of the school and chairman of the students democracy party (S. D. P), but they were defeated by their opponent SUP.

He served as captain of Nimba county and represend the county in the Liberia National Students Union (LINSU) quizzing competition in Monrovia and many others thing in the school and county at large.
During his tenure as captain of GUMS, they carried one trophy and four other certificats in Ganta city, Nimba county.

G. Nyan Zeantoe first year in the Ganta united Methodist School, he dux the 9th- grade class and also served as the president of the class.
Secondly, he dux the 10th- grade class, dux the 11th_ grade class and also dux the entire 12th graders of his class with an overall average of 92 percent.
This guy is one of the prospective graduate of the Ganta united Methodist School comes December 30, 2023.
He was honored by the Liberia National Academic Excellence at the ministerial complex in Monrovia yesterday.

So ladies and gentlemen this young guy needs to be celebrated as one of the great Student of our noble institution (GUMS).
It's often said and I quote, "Give the man his flowers 🌺🌹🌹 when he/she is still alive", so G. Nyan Zeantoe deserves these flowers 🌺🌺🌹🌹🌺🌹

Scholar keep up the good work don't give up on anything in life.
May the almighty God be with you through your educational journey.
