නව වසරේ සුවිශේෂී උත්සවයක් ලෙස ලෝකවාසී හින්දු ජනයා විසින් උත්කර්ෂවත් ලෙස සමරන තෛපොංගල් දිනය අදයි.

අස්වනු කපා වියළා ගන්නට උචිත යහපත් කාලගුණයක් සලසාදීම වෙනුවෙන් සූර්යයාට අස්වැන්නේ මුල් කොටස පිදීමටත්, ගව මහිෂාදී සත්ත්ව සමූහයා වෙත කෘතගුණ සැලකීමත් අරමුණු කොටගෙන මෙම උත්සවය පවත්වනු ලබයි.

'තයි' නම් දෙමළ මාසයේ පළමුවන දිනය හඳුන්වනු ලබන්නේ 'පොංගල්' නමිනි. පොංගල් යන දමිළ වචනයේ අදහස වන්නේ “උතුරා යාම නැතිනම් පිටාර ගැලීමයි”. මැටි කළයක කිරි උතුරා යාමට සැලැස්වීම අනාගත සෞභාග්‍යයේ සළකුණක් ලෙස හින්දු ජනතාව සලකන අතර තෛපොංගල් උත්සවයේ ප්‍ර‍ධාන අරමුණ වන්නේ අලුත් සහල්වලින් දෙවියන් පිදීම යි. මෙය සිංහල අවුරුද්දට සමාන වේ.
අවුරුදු 2000ක ඉතිහාසයක් ඇති මෙම උත්සවය ලොව පුරා එක හා සමාන ආකාරයෙන් සමරනු ලබන අතර තෛපොංගල් ගොවිතැන වටා බැඳුනු සංස්කෘතියක් සශ්‍රිකත්වය සමරන ආකාරයටත්, එවැනි සංස්කෘතීන්හි ජනයා සොබාදහම හා බැඳී ඇති ආකාරයටත් හොඳ නිදසුනකි.

விவசாயத்திற்கான உகந்த வானிலை வழங்கியதற்காக சூரியனை நோக்கி அறுவடை செய்யப்பட்ட பயிர்களின் முதல் பகுதியை சமர்ப்பிக்கவும், மாடுகள் மற்றும் பிற பண்ணை விலங்குகளுக்கு நன்றி தெரிவிக்கவும் இந்த விழா நடத்தப்படுகிறது.

'தை' எனப்படுவது தமிழ் மாதத்தின் முதல் மாதமே.'பொங்கல்' என்ற தமிழ்ச்சொல்லின் பொருள் “வெளியேறுதல் அல்லது அதிகரித்தல்” ஆகும். மண் பானையில் பால் கொதித்து வெளியேறும் போது அதனை ஆரோக்கியம் மற்றும் செல்வத்தின் அறிகுறியாக கருதுகின்றனர். தைப்பொங்கல் விழாவின் முக்கிய நோக்கம் முதல் அறுவடையினை கடவுளுக்கு படைத்து நன்றி செலுத்துவதாகும்.

2000 ஆண்டுகள் பழமையான வரலாற்றைக் கொண்ட இந்த விழா உலகம் முழுவதும் ஒரே மாதிரியான தன்மையில் கொண்டாடப்படுகிறது. தைப்பொங்கல் விவசாயத்தை மையமாகக் கொண்டுள்ள பண்பாட்டை கொண்டாடும் வழியாகவும், இயற்கையுடன் இணைந்து வாழும் மக்களின் கலாச்சாரத்தின் சிறந்த உதாரணமாகவும் விளங்குகிறது.

Today is Thai Pongal, a special festival celebrated by Hindus around the world as a new year.
This is a festival that marking gratitude for the harvest. Observed on the first day of the Tamil month of Thai, it honors the sun for good weather and animals like cows and goats for their role in agriculture. The Tamil word “Pongal” means “to overflow,” symbolizing future prosperity, and the festival’s central ritual involves boiling milk in an earthen pot. Thai Pongal, a 2,000-year-old tradition, reflects agricultural cultures’ connection to nature and is similar to the Sinhala New Year.

•බුද්ධත්වයෙන් නව වැනි මස බුදුන් වහන්සේගේ ප්‍රථම ලංකා ගමනය සිදුවීම.

•බුදුන් වහන්සේ සමන් දෙවිඳුන්ට පූජා වස්තුවක් ලෙස කේශ ධාතු මිටක් පරිත්‍යාග කිරීම.

•බුදුන් වහන්සේ වැඩ සිටි ස්ථානයේ කේශ ධාතු නිදන් කොට මහියංගන චෛත්‍යය ඉදි කිරීම.

•බුදුන් වහන්සේ දහසක් ජටිල රහතන් වහන්සේ සමඟ රජගහ නුවරට වැඩම කිරීම.

•බුදු සසුනේ පළමු ආරාම පූජාව වන වේළුවනාරාම පූජාව බිම්බිසාර රජු විසින් සිදු කිරීම.

මෙවන් උදාර ශාසනික සංසිද්ධීන්ගෙන් සාරවත් වූ උතුම් දුරුතු පුන් පොහෝ දිනයේදී උතුම් වූ පූජාවෝ පවත්වා පින් රැස් කරගැනීමට ලෝකවාසි බෞද්ධ ජනතාව උත්සුක වේ.

Today is Duruthu Full Moon Poya Day!

For Buddhist followers, the upcoming Duruthu Full Moon Poya Day in January, the first month of the year, is significant for a number of reasons.

•In the ninth month of enlightenment, the Buddha made his first visit to Ceylon.

•The Buddha offered a handful of hair relics to God Saman.

•The building of Mahiyangana Chaitya, which housed the preserved remains of the Buddha.

•The Thousand Jatila Arhats and the Buddha's visit to Rajagaha.

•King Bimbisara performed the Veluvanarama Pooja, the first monastery offering made by Buddha Sasana.

The Buddhists over the world are excited to perform honorable poojas and gather merit on the day of Duruthu Full Moon Poya Day, which is enhanced by such lofty religious rites.

වෘත්තීය තාක්ෂණ විශ්වවිද්‍යාලයේ ප්‍රමාණ සමීක්ෂණ දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව විසින් සංවිධානය කරනු ලැබූ , දෙපාර්තමේන්තු විද්‍යාර්ථයින්ගේ සුහද හමුව පසුගිය දා උත්කර්ෂවත් අන්දමින් පැවැත්විණි. අන්‍යෝන්‍ය සුහදත්වය ගොඩනැගීම මෙහි ප්‍රධාන අරමුණ විය. සම්භාවනීය ආරාධිතයින් ,ආදි විද්‍යාර්ථයින් හා වර්තමාන විද්‍යාර්ථයින් සහභාගී වූ අතර අලංකාර නර්තන අංග වලින් සුහද හමුව විචිත්‍රවත් විය.

20 වසරකට පෙර සිදු වූ අදුරු මතකය

වර්ෂ 2004 ක් වූ දෙසැම්බර් මස 26 වැනිදා මෑත ඉතිහාසයේ සටහන් වූ අඳුරුම දිනයකි. කිසිවෙකු නොසිතු නොපැතූ ලෙස අතිශයම භයංකර අත්දැකීමට මුහුණ පෑමට සිදුවූයේ මෙරට සිදුවූ බිහිසුණුම ඛේදවාචකයේ තරම කියාපාමිනි.

ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ වටිනා මිනිස් ජීවිත 31225 කට වැඩි ප්‍රමාණයක්ද ඇතුළුව ලොවපුරා 225000කට වැඩි පිරිසකට ජීවිත තත්පර කිහිපයකදී අහිමි කළ ඒ මහා සුනාමි ඛේදවාචකයට අදට හරියටම වසර 20 ක් සපිරෙයි. ඉන්දුනීසියාවේ සුමාත්‍රා දූපත අසල මුහුදේ 2004 දෙසැම්බර් 26 වැනිදා ඉරිදා අලුයම 6.58 ට හටගත් භූමිකම්පාව හේතු කොටගෙන මහ සයුර ගොඩගැලීමෙන් ශ්‍රී ලංකාව, ඉන්දියාව, ඉන්දුනීසියාව, තායිලන්තය, මැලේසියාව, මාලදිවයින හා බුරුමය යන රටවල් ද අප්‍රිකාවේ සෝමාලියාව යන රටවල්වලට දරුණු ලෙස හානි සිදු විය. එදින කිසි වෙකුටත් නොවැලැක්විය හැකි අඩි තිහක් උස මුහුදු රළ යකඩ යකාට පවා දරන්නට අපහසු විය.

එනිසාම පැරෑලියේ දුම්රිය අනතුරෙන් 1250කට අධික පිරිසක් මිය ගියහ. තනි දුම්රියක සිදු වූ ලෝකයේ දරුණුම දුම්රිය අනතුර මෙය ලෙස සැලකේ. වෙනදා සුන්දර මුහුද අතිශය ප්‍රචණ්ඩව සිදුකළ ව්‍යසනය ඉදිරි වසර ගණනාවකට වුව අමතක නොවන අමිහිරි මතකයක් වනු නොඅනුමානය.

A blurry remembrance of what transpired 20 years back.

December 26, 2004, is remembered as one of the darkest days in history due to the massive tsunami that caused unprecedented devastation. Triggered by a powerful earthquake near Sumatra, Indonesia, at 6:58 AM, the tsunami unleashed towering waves, some reaching up to 30 feet, that ravaged coastal regions. Over 225,000 lives were lost worldwide, including more than 31,225 in Sri Lanka alone.

The destruction spanned multiple countries, including Sri Lanka, Indonesia, India, Thailand, Malaysia, the Maldives, Myanmar, and even Somalia in Africa. Among the tragic events was the Peraliya train disaster in Sri Lanka, where over 1,250 people perished, making it the deadliest train accident caused by a natural disaster in history.

The once-serenhed ocean turned into a violent force, leaving communities in ruins and countless lives shattered. Twenty years later, this calamity remains an enduring and sorrowful memory of nature’s immense power and the profound human loss it can bring.

සාමයේ කුමරුන්ගේ උපත සමරන නත්තල අදයි !

මිනිස් බවගත් දෙව් කුමරාගේ උපත සමරන නත්තල ලෝකවාසී කිතුණු බැතිමතුන් ඉතා උත්සවත්ශ්‍රියෙන් සමරති. ජේසු බිලිදා මරියතුමියට දාව සුරැකි පියා වන ජුසේතුමාගේ රැකවරණය මැද උපත ලැබීය. ජේසුස් වහන්සේගේ ආදරය මුළු මහත් ලෝකය පුරා විහිදෙන මෙම නත්තල සෑම වර්ෂයකම දෙසැම්බර් මස 25 වන දිනට යෙදී තිබේ.

නත්තලේදී ප්‍රේමයට පරිත්‍යාගශීලිත්වයට මුල් තැනක් දීම වඩාත් වැදගත් වේ. ජේසු සමිදුන් කුරුස ගසේ සිටියදීත් තම සතුරන්ට ප්‍රේම කලහ. ඒ මහඟු ආදර්ශය අනූව යමින් වෛරය ඇති තැනට ප්‍රේමය පතුරවන්නට අපට හැකි නම් නත්තල් පණිවිඩයේ සැබෑ සාක්ෂිකරුවන් වීමට අපට හැකි වනු ඇත.

අන්ධකාරයෙන් පිරී පවතින අප හදවත් තුල ජේසුස් වහන්සේගේ ප්‍රේමයේ බීජය වපුරවමින් මෙවර නත්තලට සැබෑ අරුතක් එක් කරලීමට අප කැප වෙමු.

ඔබ සැමට ප්‍රේමය පිරි සුභ නත්තලක් වේවා..!

The birth of the divine Prince is celebrated with great devotion and festivity by Christians around the world. Jesus was born to Mother Mary and Father Joseph. Jesus came into this world on this sacred day. Christmas commemorates the love of Jesus that spread throughout the world. It is celebrated every year on 25 th of December.

Love and selflessness, hold great significance, on Christmas. Even at the cross, Jesus loved his enemies. By following this profound example, if we can replace hatred with love, we can become true witnesses to the message of Christmas.

In this Christmas, let's dedicate ourselves to, plant the seeds of Jesus's love in our hearts, which may often be filled with darkness, and add true meaning to the season.

සිතකින් නොවේ කිසි දා හැර යන්නෙ මා ❜❜

ප්‍රවීණ ගායන ශිල්පී ප්‍රියා සූරියසේන මහතා අද දින ජීවන රඟමඩලෙන් සමුගෙන ඇත.

ඔහු අභාවප්‍රාප්ත වන විට 80 වැනි වියේ පසු විය. 1944 ඔක්තොම්බර් මස 27 වන දින උපත ලැබූ ඔහු 1968 වසරේදී සංගීත ක්ෂේත්‍රයට පිවිසියේ බයිලා ගීත ගායනයෙනි.

"ඈත රන් විමන් , මගේ ලමැද , රටකින් එහා , ඇසුරින් මිදීලා ,සැන්දෑ යාමේ , අඳුර අඳුර මගේ , කැන්දම් යන්නම් මල් මල් මාලා දාලා, ආදරණිය නේරංජනා, හෙට දවසේ, මාගේ සැමරුම් පොතේ, මට වාසනා , එකම විදියේ" ආදී අමරණීය ගීත ගණනාවක් එතුමා අපට දායාද කොට තිබේ.

Renowned singer Priya Suriyasena has bid farewell to the stage of life today.

He passed away at the age of 80. Born on October 27th, 1944, he entered the music industry in 1968, specializing in Baila songs.

Among his timeless contributions are songs such as "Atha Ran Viman, Mage Lameda, Ratakin Eha, Asurin Midila, Sanda Yame, Andura Andura Mage, Kandam Yannam Mal Mal Mala Dala, Adaraniya Neranjana, Heta Davase, Mage Semarum Pothe, Mata Vasana, and Ekama Vidie."
