DCSL's annual Christmas get-together at the Cinnamon Grand Colombo on 21st December 2024 transformed into a vibrant Hawaiian paradise. The "Christmas in Hawaii" theme came to life with staff members adorned in vibrant tropical prints, adding a splash of color to the festive scene. The festivities began with a mesmerizing Hawaiian dance performance by talented staff members, setting the mood for an unforgettable night. The captivating melodies of the in-house band "Octave" further enhanced the festive atmosphere.

The celebration honored long-serving dedicated employees who had served for 30 years or more with special awards, recognizing their invaluable contribution and unwavering commitment to the organization. DCSL also celebrated the triumphs of the badminton champions at the Mercantile Badminton Championship. The festive spirit reached its peak with a lively baila competition, encouraging enthusiastic participation from all. Throughout the evening, the band "Magnify" kept the energy high with their infectious music, creating an atmosphere of joy, laughter, and celebration.

The DCSL Christmas get-together was a resounding success, fostering camaraderie and creating lasting memories for all.

The DCSL Quiz Championship was held on September 07th, 2024. Fifteen teams competed in a fierce intellectual battle, vying for the coveted championship trophy. The defending champions, and the first and second runners-up successfully retained their titles this year. In addition to the intellectual challenge, the event was also enlivened by musical performances from our multi-talented staff, ensuring an enjoyable experience for all.

The Outdoor Games of the DCSL Sports Tournament 2024 took place at the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Stadium in Diyagama, on 20th July 2024. Our staff members joined together for an exhilarating day of friendly competition, featuring both track & field events such as walking, running, long jump, shot put and tug of war. The spirit of solidarity and fellowship was truly inspiring, showcasing the dedication and enthusiasm of the employees. Congratulations to everyone who participated and made this event a memorable celebration of unison and sportsmanship!

The Indoor Games of the DCSL Sports Tournament was held on June 16th 2024 at the S. Thomas’ College Sports Complex in Mount Lavinia, and the General Sir John Kotelawala Defense University in Ratmalana. Badminton, Table Tennis, Volleyball and Swimming events saw staff members from all entities come together in a spirit of friendly competition. It was a day fueled by teamwork, sportsmanship and memories to last a lifetime. Congratulations to all the participants for their dedication, and making it a truly triumphant event!

The DCSL PLC Carrom & Chess Tournament which marks the commencement of the DCSL Sports Tournament was held on May 19th 2024. Staff members across all entities of the Company enthusiastically participated in this event and their collective effort ensured the event's success, fostering teamwork and camaraderie in a spirited atmosphere of friendly competition.

The DCSL PLC Vesak Art Competition was organized for the second consecutive year, providing a platform for staff members to exhibit their creative talents. The event entailed diverse forms of artistic expressions, fostering a vibrant showcase of creativity and enthusiasm. The winner, 1st runner-up & 2nd runner-up were selected, along with another seven merit awards.

DCSL Women’s Day Programme - 2024
Distilleries Company of Sri Lanka PLC hosted a Women’s Day Programme in line with International Women’s Day to recognize and celebrate the contribution and commitment of their female workforce to the Company. The event took place at Raffles Colombo on March 16th, 2024. Titled “Her Voice Her Choice” the event reflected the international women’s day theme for 2024 – “Inspire Inclusion”. An esteemed panel of guest speakers representing Melsta Hospitals – Ragama, HNB PLC, a representative of the Community Police Division of the Sri Lanka Police and a distinguished human skills development specialist covered several informative sessions important to women, including topics surrounding reproductive health, financial management, safeguarding women and children and how to build a positive mind set through the law of attraction. The event concluded with an entertainment segment in which all ladies unanimously participated, enhancing their singing abilities. This was a memorable day as all the ladies departed with a sense of fulfillment and cherished moments, as their presence and active engagement was instrumental in making this event a resounding success.

Distilleries Company of Sri Lanka PLC hosted its Annual Cricket Tournament at the Free Trade Zone Sports Complex, Katunayake, on March 03rd, 2024. This event featured an eleven-a-side softball cricket encounter aimed at providing employees with a platform to showcase their talent, promote teamwork and boost self-confidence. Additionally, a separate encounter was held for “Veterans” of the over 45 age category, allowing them to exhibit their cricketing skills.
A total of 13 teams participated in the tournament representing the Head Office, Southern Region, Northern Region, Central Region, Extra Special Heritage Arena, Periceyl (Pvt) Ltd and the newest addition, DCSL Breweries Lanka Limited.
In the final match of the below 45 age category, “The Specials" of the Extra Special Heritage Arena emerged as the Champions, defeating their counterpart “DBL - Tigers" representing DCSL Breweries Lanka Limited, who secured the Runners-Up position. Sarath Mahesh Kotalawala from “Dakshina Shoorayo” of Southern Region was awarded as the “Best Bowler” and “Man of the Tournament” while Dimuthu Chaminda Senadheera from “The Specials” received the awards for “Best Batsman” and “Man of the Final Match”.
In the veteran’s tournament, “Dakshina Shoorayo” of Southern Region claimed the victory with “The Specials” emerging as the runners-up. Anil Perera of “Dakshina Shoorayo ” was awarded the “Man of the Match” and Nishantha Fernando of “The Specials ” was awarded the “Best Batsman”, while Sanjaya Bandara Abeyrathne of “Central Heroes” of Central Region was recognized as both, the “Best Bowler” and “Man of the Tournament”.

The year 2024 was warmly embraced at DCSL PLC, through a ceremonial illumination of the hearth and oil lamp, amidst a large gathering of enthusiastic staff members. The celebrations were elevated with formal addresses delivered by each distinguished leader of the Company, and the festivities concluded on a high note with a delightful breakfast and lunch, creating an opportunity for all staff to unite and exchange good wishes, to usher in the new year with hopes for prosperity.
