TikTok is moving towards improving safety for it's underage users by introducing an age limit option for the live streams in the platform. Users will have the choice to limit their viewers to 18 or above.

You may ask: why would users opt to set an age limit? According to the platform: “Perhaps a comedy routine is better suited for people over age 18. Or, a host may plan to talk about a difficult life experience and they would feel more comfortable knowing the conversation is limited to adults”.

It also worth noting that that TikTok will continue to staying true to its Community Guidelines by restricting explicit content. In a recent press release they have stated that “We want our community to make the most of the opportunities Live can bring without compromising on safety. We believe these industry-leading updates can further protect the younger members of our community as they start and build their online presence”

📢 In-App scheduling is finally coming to Instagram!

In a recent update, Head of Instagram Adam Mosseri announced the rolling out of this long overdue feature.

Instagram scheduling will be available for professional accounts, allowing scheduling up to 75 days. Scheduling can be done for images, videos and carousels as well.

Mosseri also announced the availability of the new, redesigned Instagram Web (www.instagram.com) which offers a better, smoother desktop experience.

📢 WhatsApp Communities are finally live!

Described as a "major evolution" for the messaging app by Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, this feature allows multiple WhatsApp groups to be formed under a larger parent group.

In other words, when an admin creates a new Community, they can create multiple new groups, or merge a few existing groups under the Community. The default group that gets created when creating a Community acts as an announcement group; somewhat similar to the function of a “broadcast”.

A member can opt to leave a sub-group while still being part of the particular Community.

Some of the other major features that have become available along with Communities include:
👉 Polls (in sub-groups of Communities)
👉 Up to 32-person calls
👉 Shareable call links
👉 Large file sharing (up to 2GB)
