People often make the error of thinking that their memories are truer than fiction. What they often don't realize is that with time, the line between memories and drama gets thinner. Every recollection is a reenactment that becomes injected with new understandings and artistic interpretations, so why not fully embrace the drama of recollection?

We all knew people who never had the chance to live for themselves, always going out of their way to take care of other people and rarely doing anything for themselves. Telling the story of one of those selfless people who only thought of taking care of the people around them is enough to make you realize how brief this life is.

Working with a Lebanese songwriter, playwright, and actor considered one of the longest currently active artists in the country is always an honor. A collaboration between the old generation of artists is a great way to find a new twist on a legend's work.

For Week 2 of we have 200 Meters (2020)

Starring Ali Suliman as Mustafa and Lana Zreik as Salwa, 200 Meters depicts Mustafa's journey as he illegally crosses the separation wall to visit his son in the hospital because of an accident. In any other situation, it would've been just a walk away, but because of the occupation, Mustafa has to go through a 200-kilometer journey to see his family who live a stone's throw away from him.

OOBconcept was honored to present Black Mouse to the BARQ Festival. In his speech, the director Ahmad Naboulsi emphasized the importance of Tripoli as an overlooked Mediterranean city. Tripoli is one of the most historically rich cities in the Mediterranean. Yet, it has suffered from poverty, sectarian conflicts, and declining living standards over the last century, so we've aimed to show that rich heritage and its recent history with Black Mouse.

The first film on our list is Omar (2013).

Starring Adam Bakri and Leem Lubany, it follows the story of Omar (played by Bakri), a Palestinian baker who gets caught climbing over the West Bank border to meet his high-school sweetheart Nadia (played by Lubany). This leads to him getting beaten and humiliated by Israeli soldiers so Omar and his friends plot to kill one of the soldiers in retaliation.

Upon being apprehended, Omar is forced to become an informant to secure his release after he unwittingly confesses his role to an agent pretending to be a fellow prisoner.

Omar (2013) is available to watch on Netflix.

We looked through the archives of the Palestine Film Institute . We chose to highlight films and documentaries that highlight the Palestinian experience and of its exiles, refugees, and the internally displaced, prioritizing those that were made by Palestinians.

While this 4-day truce can give some relief to the Palestinians, we call for a permanent ceasefire and a permanent political solution that addresses the occupation and the needs of the Palestinians in the occupied territories and in exile.
