Dergham sarl est une maison d’édition à la base francophone spécialisée dans la publication de livres qui abordent en profondeur des questions de société, d’histoire et d’héritage liées au Liban. Notre but est d’apporter un nouvel éclairage sur le Liban d’hier et d’aujourd’hui à travers des récits documentés, en nous appuyant essentiellement sur l’enquête et le vécu des gens. Nous réalisons, intégralement au Liban, des ouvrages d’une belle qualité esthétique, car pour nous l’objet lui-même est aussi important que son contenu. Dergham sarl was registered as a separate organization in Lebanon in 1999, after branching out from Hassib Dergham & sons, founded in 1978. Our company is split into 2 main departments: prepress & publishing. Our prepress experience spans over 4 decades during which we’ve been able to amass a wealth of experience, and cater to the needs of cultural institutions and eminent publishers on a local & foreign scale, while presenting works of a beautiful aesthetic quality and adapting to the market new technologies. In 2007, our focus shifted giving publishing a more prominent role in our organization. Today, our own publishing house specializes in the publication of books that tackle in depth society, history and heritage matters related to Lebanon. Our goal is to shed new light on Lebanon’s past and present through documented stories, relying mainly on people's experiences. We try to give our readers the opportunity to have access in several languages - translation has always played a major role in Dergham - to realities brought back from the field, which foster their critical thinking and stimulate democratic debates.

تمّ تسجيل درغام ش م م كمؤسسة مستقلّة في لبنان عام 1999، بعد أن انفصلت عن شركة حسيب درغام وأولاده، التي تأسّست عام 1978. تنقسم شركتنا إلى فرعين رئيسيين: قسم العمل ما قبل الطباعة المعروف بالـprepress وقسم النشر. تمتدّ خبرة عملنا في نطاق الـprepress إلى أكثر من 4 عقود تمكّنا خلالها من جمع خبرات متينة في المجال، وتلبية احتياجات العديد من المؤسسات الثقافية والناشرين البارزين على المستوى المحلي والإقليمي، إضافةً إلى التأقلم مع التقنيات والتغيرات الجديدة في السوق وتقديم أعمالٍ ذات جودةٍ جمالية عالية. في العام 2007، انصبّ تركيزنا على إعطاء النشر دورًا بارزًا في مؤسستنا. اليوم، تُعتبر دار النشر الخاصة بدرغام ش م م متخصّصة في نشر الكتب التي تتناول بعمق قضايا المجتمع والتاريخ والتراث المتعلقة بلبنان. هدفنا الأساسي إلقاء ضوءٍ جديد على ماضي لبنان وحاضره من خلال حكايات شعبه الموثقة، بالاعتماد بشكلٍ أساسي على تجارب الناس وخبراتهم. نحاول أن نمنح قرّائنا فرصة التعرّف بلغاتٍ عدّة - لطالما لعبت الترجمة دورًا رئيسيًا في درغام - على الحقائق الموجودة على الأرض، في الشارع أو في كلّ دار، والتي تعزّز تفكيرهم النقدي وتحفّز النقاشات والأحاديث الديمقراطية.

In the context of Beyrouth Livres event, Souk el Tayeb organizes a special edition of Souk el Kotob on Saturday October 22nd from 5pm to 11pm. As part of the program, our friend, author of “961 heures à Beyrouth et 321 plats qui l’accompagnent” and founder of Souk el Tayeb will come together at from 7pm to 8pm to discuss the book and Lebanese cuisine.
A reading evening will follow at 8pm at Souk el Kotob.
On Sunday october 23rd, Souk el Kotob will be open from 12pm to 8pm.
Organized by , Beyrouth Livres aims to revive Beyrouth’s role as the book capital of the arab world in spite of the actual economical and social crisis.
More than 40 cultural spaces in Beyrouth and around the country will take part in the unique rendez-vous that is taking place for the first time in Lebanon.

Après plus de 15 ans de travail et de recherche, Guillaume de Vaulx d’Arcy et Wissam Lahham ont collaboré pour aboutir à la réalisation de cet ouvrage qui questionne la logique identitaire.
S’appuyant sur la théorie des ensembles, Identités de papier regroupe un catalogue exhaustif de papiers d’identités d’origine libanaise de l’époque ottomane jusqu’à nos jours ainsi qu’une série de portraits manifestant la pluralité des statuts administratifs actuels.

S’appuyant sur la théorie des ensembles, l’ouvrage propose une théorie inédite de la logique identitaire, des appartenances qu’elle forge, des marques qu’elle appose sur les corps, des stratégies qu’elle actionne et des loyautés et adversités qu’elle engendre entre les êtres. 🔍
Parmi les auteurs de l’ouvrage, Guillaume de Vaulx d’Arcy est chercheur à l’Institut Français du Proche-Orient et membre de l’Institut Dominicain d’Etudes Orientales. Philosophe, il travaille à partir de la pensée arabe classique. Wissam Lahham quant à lui, est enseignant à l’Université Saint Joseph. Théoricien du droit et collectionneur, il commente le système politique libanais, ses textes fondamentaux et édite les documents de son histoire.

Empowering Women through Cooking - Lebanon is a project that includes the stories and recipes of 52 women, who live in Lebanon and come from different national backgrounds, religions, socio-economics levels, struggles, and talents. This project is a validation that civil society, public sector, private sector, academia, impact funds, and aid agencies can, and must, work together on empowering women socially and economically, while giving back to the community.

Throwback to our last week’s meeting organized by المورد الثقافي & .fund - The Arab Fund for Arts and Culture, which gathered 54 institutions supported by their Lebanon Solidarity Fund Program.

The program was first introduced, in 2020 and later in 2021, to address some of the pressing issues facing the arts and culture sector in Lebanon during a time of economic and financial crises compounded by the global COVID 19 pandemic and the August 4 explosion at the Port of Beirut.

The meeting, held over two days, was meant to give space for arts and cultural institutions to come together and share their thoughts and experiences and exchange on their work conditions. An opportunity for us to start thinking about the possible future opportunities and collaborations and the significance of contemporary cultural work and production in Lebanon.

Que c’est triste de ne pas recevoir de nouvelles de Georges Skaff, surtout durant les périodes de fête, lui qui n’a jamais coupé contact avec nos Éditions depuis notre première rencontre en 2013-2014…
Noble, calme, paisible et raffiné, il ne cessait de nous visiter, toujours muni d’histoires et de souvenirs du bon vieux temps, de Zahlé son village chéri qu’on a redécouvert à travers ses yeux et sa plume, du temps où le Liban était beau à vivre…

Aujourd’hui, ton âme et ta plume reposent en paix auprès de ton ami de toujours Saïd Akl, avec qui tu as vécu d’innombrables péripéties, à qui tu as su rendre hommage dans l’ombre, sans vouloir paraître, humble et modeste comme tu l’as toujours été…

2007. Les éditions Dergham voient le jour ! Pourtant Dergham existait bien avant. Environ 30 ans plus tôt, en 1978, Dergham travaillait encore derrière la scène, en coulisses, opérant pour d’autres maisons d’éditions, leur offrant des services de prépresse, de préparation de manuscrits avant leur impression. Ayant acquis une grande expérience dans ce domaine, avec pour seules devises une qualité d’ouvrage exceptionnelle et de hautes techniques d’impression, voilà que Dergham décide de se lancer également dans le monde de l’édition ! Elle prendra réellement sa place au sein du marché libanais en tant que maison d’édition à part entière comptant plus de cent titres pour une centaine d’auteurs. Nous citons parmi ces derniers : Said Akl, Alexandre Najjar, Henri Zoghaib, Philippe Aractingi, Assaad Chaftari, Sami Richa, Jocelyne Awad, Abdo Ayoub, Shams Nadir, Roger Geahchan, Nayef Maalouf ainsi que beaucoup d’autres écrivains talentueux, jeunes ou adultes, qui écrivent à plein temps ou occasionnellement. 2007. “Editions Dergham” are born! Yet Dergham existed well before. About 30 years earlier, in 1978, Dergham was still working behind the scenes, for other publishers, offering them pre-press services and preparing manuscripts before printing. Having acquired a great experience in this field, with an exceptional quality of work and high printing techniques, Dergham decided to step into the world of publishing! It will thus take its place in the Lebanese market as a full-fledged publisher with more than 100 titles for a hundred authors. Among them are: Said Akl, Alexandre Najjar, Henri Zoghaib, Philippe Aractingi, Assaad Chaftari, Sami Richa, Jocelyne Awad, Abdo Ayoub, Shams Nadir, Roger Geahchan, Nayef Maalouf and many other talented young and adult writers , who write full-time or occasionally. So, If you are one of those who enjoy reading in Arabic, French or English; true stories, novels, biographies, educational stories for children and “beaux livres” will always be at the rendezvous at “Editions Dergham”!
