JiL Amine is an Economic Affairs Officer with the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia - ESCWAUnited Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (UN-ESCWA) working on sustainable development and renewable energy projects and policies. He joined ESCWA with prior work experience with the World Bank in Lebanon, UNDP Lebanon, and EnWin Utilities in Canada where he worked in the energy, renewable energy, energy efficiency, and energy distribution sectors. Jil graduated from the University of Windsor Canada with a bachelor degree in electrical engineering in 2012 and a master degree in renewable energy in 2013.

Meet our speakers: Alain Aoun

Alain Aoun holds a PhD from the University of Quebec in the fields of energy and digital transformation, an MSc (2006) in Industrial and Power Engineering, ME in Electrical Engineering (2007) and ME in Renewable Energies (2018). He is presently the Managing Director of Alain Aoun & Partners, an engineering firm specialized in the electrical, energy and lighting fields and Co-Founder and COO of Blockchain Leaders a start-up in the field of blockchain consultancy and research. Alain Aoun joined the Association of Energy Engineers AEE in 2016 and at present, he serves as the Assistant Director for Student Affairs and president of the Lebanese Chapter. Awarded the MENA region Energy Engineer of the year 2018, he is an accredited trainer for the CEM, CBCP, CEA, CMVP and CLEP courses and certified professional from the AEE (CEM®, BEP®, CBCP®, CEA®, REP®, CMVP®, CLEP®, PCF®, CAP®). With a track record of 15 years of experience, Alain Aoun is an engineering consultant, trainer, entrepreneur and expert in the fields of blockchain, energy and digital transformation.

Meet our speakers: Alain Abi Saad

Alain is a project engineer on the CEDRO 5 project - UNDP since 2020 after several years of work in the Lebanese energy and water sector both with the private sector and the international NGOs. He was previously working as a project manager on the role of energy in the water sector with Oxfam GB. His training formal through his degree in Mechanical Engineering coupled with certifications namely the Certified Energy Manager (CEM) and Carbon Reduction Manager (CRM) he has acquired, has allowed him to play a central role in the energy transition movement in Lebanon.
