I don’t know how I should feel about using Meta’s social media apps.

I have been feeling distracted by facebook and instagram from real life for a long time. Long time ago it was to connect with people easily but later it made me insecure many times, nowadays it just distracting me with random short-form contents with algorithms.

Instagram and Threads are just same. I have been using those for promoting my music. But most of the time I am doom-scrolling.

So I set limit on these three apps, 3hrs a day. And put icons at second page so when I pick up my phone I’d connect with my people or using other apps to read/watch something has useful informations…

I will see how it goes.

만유인력 공연

공연 주제는 윤석열 탄핵 기원 음악회이지만 개인적으로 의미가 큰 공연이었다. 홍대 인디씬에서 인간적으로 존경하는 한받님의 공간에서 공연하게 되어 영광이기도 했고, 데뷔곡인 3rd air 발매 3주년을 맞아 여기서 첫 라이브를 선보인 것도 의미가 있었다.

그러나 그 모든 것들보다 공연에 늦었음에도 너그러이 봐주신 분들, 세팅이 오래걸리는데도 그 순간들도 즐겨주셨던 관객분들. 솔로셋으로 공연한건 두번째였는데 준비가 부족해 많이 떨고 그랬으나 박수쳐주시고 즐겨주셔서 감사했다.

“인간미” “정” 이라는 것을 느낀 공연이었다.
솔직하게 말해 오후까지만 해도 몸이 힘들어서 그냥 못간다고 할까 생각했지만 내가 공연하자고 했고 그냥 던진 말에 공연 준비해주신 것도 너무 감사한데 늦어도 뭐라 안하고 마지막 순서로 공연하게 배려해주셔서 감사하고 마음이 따뜻해지는 공연이었다.

한받님하고 정말 10여년만에 뵙게됐는데 뭐랄까 따뜻한 사람의 마음이 느껴졌달까.

덕분에 정말 좋은 하루를 보냈다.
고맙습니다.

Happy 3rd Air-versary!

Today is the day my debut EP “3rd air” has been released. I put really hardworking on this music. Before deciding to make this one out, thought a lot about it. “What music should I begin with, to be ‘a musician’?” And this music was, just right fit to begin with. Because it was the one changed my life, changed other people’s thoughts about me.

This music made Seotaiji, my ex-boss begin to recognize me as an artist, not just as an employee of his company. Back then it was a background music of his new album announcement video, the reaction was phenomenal! Over 200k people watched that video, listened to that song. And his fans and music community had great impressions. It was surreal to me. It was 2008, 16yrs ago.

Back to 3yrs ago, I released this song completely re-worked as a new music. Released through my ex company Spotlight Entertainment, who helped me distribute through CJ Stone Music Entertainment. They put my music on main page of their streaming platform “Genie Music” which is one of big streaming platforms in Korea. I still read comments on musicvideo on their youtube channel. I was really happy people loved this song.

But after that, I was kinda lost. Didn’t realize where I was, I was lazy ass. Maybe became arrogant with pride. Failed to continue my career… And later I had encountered changes of my life. Thankfully I have met my wife, Ambre. She changed me.

Looking back this year, I have been trying to be musician again. It was hard. I had to stand up by myself. I realized my place. I am just an independent musician, just one of many of. But I tried to be just myself, worked on my own projects anyway. And I think I did it right. Even it’s slow.

And now I am planning to celebrate 3 years anniversary of my debut, because the title of this song is 3rd air. This music will depart from Stone Music Entertainment. 3rd air will be released via Distrokid, the distribution platform I am currently using. Also bandcamp, the one I can sell music and physical copies like CD.

The release will be sometime in January.

공연 예정이시고 만유인력 운영하시는 한받님께서 현재 탄핵과 평화를 기원하는 “화난음표”라는 단체에 참여하시기로 하고 토요일에 시위현장에 버스킹 공연으로 함께 하시기로 하셨습니다.
기획된 공연은 취소하고 다음에 탄핵 이후 쯤 다시 기획하는 것으로 기약하게 됐습니다.

The major lined-up musician Han Vad joined new musicians union “Angry Notes” which supports Yoon’s impeachment and bring peace, he will join busking street live along side of protests on Saturday, same day as our expected show.
So please excuse us about canceling this show, I’m posting right now after saw notice from show director.

"Disappear"

I have been struggling with my life since very long time ago.
Many people would have experience at least once that feels useless to this world, especially when you have depression.
This is not just from sadness, when you feel like just a dot in this huge world.
Sometimes I felt that I am nobody to anyone, I just make things bad for others close by.

I played this guitar solo when I got yelled "Why are you here?", "What are you doing really?"
I felt like I am doing nothing but wasting time. I wish I could "disappear" like warping into nothingness.
No one would miss me. No one would remember I was here.

But at the same time, it means I want to feel attention, I want to feel people appreciate I exist.
I feel bad that people don't. I feel bad about the fact that people don't recognize my existence.

Disappear, this song is not just about deleting myself.
It is about will of my existence.

The guitar play was 100% improvised record. I recorded the play and never looked back like 3 years.
And someday I decided to release it. During working on this song, I put drums under it - which elevates the emotion more intense. And put bass, which adds context to it.

“Run” 비하인드 스토리

2015년 10월 31일, 제 아들 주이안이 태어났습니다.

소위 ”자유로운 영혼“ 이라 불릴 정도로 막 살던 저에게 아들이 생길 줄은 꿈에도 몰랐지요. 2012년에 아버지를 잃은 전 좋은 아빠가 돼야겠다 다짐을 하게 됐지요.

하지만 2년 뒤, 젊은 시절 너무 막 살았던 대가였는지 폐암 말기 진단을 받게 됩니다. 암투병하는 동안 걷기라도 운동을 많이 하라고 해서, 이안이와 함께 집 앞 하천 공원에 산책을 다닐 시간이 많았어요.

그러던 어느날 평화롭고 즐거운 이 순간을 곡으로 쓰고 싶다는 생각을 하게 됐죠. 2018년 즈음이었을거에요.
이후에 이안이 목소리를 넣으면 잼있겠다는 생각에 데모 프로젝트를 열고 헤드폰 씌워주고 녹음을 했죠.

조만간 이안이 녹음하는 장면 찍은것도 공개해볼게요.
정말 귀엽답니다. ^^

마지막으로 본게 벌써 5년전이네요.
많이 보고 싶습니다.
