PM Hun Manet responds to critics over thesis
Prime Minister Hun Manet blasted former opposition leader Sam Rainsy for criticising his degree from the University of Bristol in the United Kingdom in 2009.
Mr Hun Manet made the remarks while meeting with about 20,000 factory workers in Kandal province on Thursday.
“Last night, the team sent me a video, I saw that a person (Rainsy), now I stopped calling him uncle because he criticised my PhD degree, alleging that Hun Manet cannot wrote a PhD thesis. Maybe [I] hired a foreigner to write [for me], because the thesis has not been made public.”
Mr Hun Manet said the school had a policy of confidentiality not to disclose the thesis to the public.
“I want to tell you if you want to see my thesis, please come and ask from me and I will let you see, but there is no need to say something bad in the newspaper,” he said.
Govt’s policy serves 17 million Cambodian people
Prime Minister Hun Manet said that the policy outlined by the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) during the election campaign, and after winning the election, has served and benefitted people.
Mr Hun Manet made the remarks while meeting with nearly 20,000 factory workers in Kandal province on Thursday.
He said that opposition group has attacked the government’s policy in a bad faith.
"The day before, they attacked me, saying that the policy was only designed for my allies and powerful people. I responded that it is for my allies, the allies of the CPP, it is for 17 million Cambodian people. So our policy is to serve our 17 million people”, Mr Hun Manet said.
He said that the Government does everything for benefit of the people and to maintain peace, socio-economic development.
Lao delegation meets with CMAC director general
Demining delegation from Laos on Wednesday met with Cambodian Mine Action Center director general Heng Ratana to exchange experience.
The delegation was led by Chomyaeng Phengthongsawat, Director General of the National Regulatory Authority for UXO/Mine Action Sector in Lao PDR. They were on a two-day study visit.
The visit will provide the NRA delegation with an opportunity to explore and deepen knowledge of National Standards, issues of legislation and funding utilization.
The purpose of this study visit is to exchange experience and best practices on quality management in enhancing the operation of UXO/Mine Action sector, broadening our understanding of management in Mine Action Operation of CMAC including review on the CMAC operation process, National standards regarding quality assurance and quality control and information management system that link to quality management.
The delegation will visit the demining site in Battambang province to learn more about CMAC’s demining operations.

PM says that landmines are no longer a public concern but rather drugs
Dr. Hun Manet, Cambodia’s Prime Minister, stated that landmines are almost gone across the country and are no longer a concern for people, but what people are worried about is their safety from the dangers of drugs.
