The main actor of "The Gods Must Be Crazy", N!xau Toma, was only paid $300, even though the film produced in 1980 made over $200 million. He died a poor wretched bushman despite making millions of dollars for other people. He was hugely exploited at the negoting table. In fact, he was merely told what was negotiated and he accepted with happiness. Africans have always been exploited.
The film is basically about the conflict between the new order and the old epoch: The Namibian tribal people in a remote African desert live a happy life, but it is all torn to pieces when a Coca-Cola bottle falls from a plane.The confusion and myth surrounding the strange object disorganized the bushmen as they made efforts to unravel the mystery object.
He died on 5th July 2003 at the age of 59. He died a poor man because he was not only exploited but he lacked the necessary skills to even realised that he was exploited.
Yes he died poor after playing the lead role in a film that earned more than $200 million in revenue. Where else does it happen if not in Africa?

DNA shocker for woman seeking to inherit father's property.
A woman fighting for a share of her deceased father's estate has been dealt a blow after a DNA test gave a 32.7 per cent chance result that neither established nor excluded paternity. This means that the court could not determine whether or not the deceased was her father.
The DNA samples were taken from the deceased's siblings, who are the uncle and aunt of the woman identified as CWK.
The specific result of the test was that the chance of the two siblings being the paternal uncle and aunt of CWK was 32.7155 per cent, while the chance of them not being CWK was two times higher.

TikTok files lawsuit against Montana over download ban.
TikTok filed a lawsuit against Montana on Monday over a new law aimed at stopping people from downloading the app, arguing the ban violates the First Amendment.
"We are challenging Montana’s unconstitutional TikTok ban to protect our business and the hundreds of thousands of TikTok users in Montana," a spokesperson for the company said after the suit was filed. "We believe our legal challenge will prevail based on an exceedingly strong set of precedents and facts."
TikTok is seeking an "order invalidating and preliminarily and permanently enjoining Defendant from enforcing the TikTok Ban," according to the complaint.
Gov. Greg Gianforte signed a bill last week restricting downloads of the immensely popular social media app into law, making Montana the first state to ban TikTok.
The law makes it illegal for app stores to give users the option to download TikTok and illegally for the company to operate within the state.
In addition to First Amendment concerns, the complaint states that the ban violates a federal preemption, meaning matters of national security and foreign affairs are carried out by the federal government rather than the states.
It also says Montana is in violation of the constitution's Commerce Clause, which limits a state's authority "to enact legislation that unduly burdens interstate and foreign commerce."

Probe on after grade 3 pupil was defiled, body dumped in river
Grief has engulfed Kagio town, Kirinyaga county after 9-year-old grade 3 pupil who went missing on Friday was was found dead on Sunday night.
The girl’s body was found dumped in river Rwamuthambi, with visible signs showing she had been defiled and strangled.
Her mother Caroline Wanjiru said she did not return home on Friday, prompting her to report the matter at Kagio police station.
“I grew worried and informed my neighbour and the matter was informed to the whole of Kagio and yesterday at all local churches including Kagio catholic,” Wanjiku says.
Now, residents are pointing fingers at a trader, who sells milk to Wanjiku. He is accused of buying sweets for the girl, before disappearing with her to an unknown place.
“We went to look for the girl at the man's rented house but we found the man was not there at around 2am. The man is nowhere to be found till now,” Mary Muthoni says.
“We are lucky because a pipe in Rwamuthambi river had blocked the body, it would have taken many days to see her body,” another resident, Reuben Kihara says.
Kirinyaga West Sub-county police commander Moses Koskei says police have launched investigations into the matter.
“We are looking for the man who is well known to the girl's mother, detectives are on him.”

Man Arrested For Locking 16-Year-Old Boy Inside His House For 3 Days Without Food, Sodomizing Him
A 28-year-old man is behind bars for allegedly sodomizing teenage boys in Mikinduri town, Meru County.
The suspect, James Baariu Rungai, was allegedly caught red-handed while sodomizing a 16-year-old boy whom he reportedly threatened and locked inside his house for three days without food.
Anjuki area chief Jacob Michuki Mutiga, who came to the boy’s aid in the company of Nyumba Kumi members, said the suspect had been sodomizing the teenager and locking him in the house from the outside with a padlock without food and water.
Mr. Mutiga explained that on the said day of rescue, while acting on a tip-off from the public, they raided the suspect’s house and broke down the door.
He noted that, upon entering the house, they found the man sweating while the boy was naked.
The administrator added that the boy told the police that the suspect enticed him that he would give him food since he lives with his mother in Mikinduri slums and usually slept hungry.
The minor recalled that after arriving at the suspect's house, he locked the door, picked up a machete and ordered him to undress, threatening to cut him into pieces and dump his body in a latrine if he dared to raise alarm.
Mikinduri police officers have since urged all victims as well as their parents to record their statements with the area Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) office so that the suspect can be charged according to his crimes in a court of law.

11 Mukumu girls hospitalised after falling ill.
Eleven learners at Sacred Heart Mukumu Girls High School have been admitted to hospital after falling ill on Friday.
Two of the learners are being treated for malaria while nine others were rushed to hospital after complaining of abdominal pain and fatigue.
The students were admitted to St Elizabeth Mukumu Mission Hospital and doctors are closely monitoring their condition.

What did South Africa 'supply' to Russia that so upset the Americans?
What South Africa allegedly supplied to Russia, sparking an extraordinary diplomatic row and jeopardising billions in US-South African trade and investment, is being treated as a top secret by President Cyril Ramaphosa's government.
The National Conventional Arms Control Committee, which monitors and certifies all arms trade in and out of South Africa, says no arms or ammunition have been sold to Russia from South Africa.
Far from being contrite, the South Africans are very angry, with a spokesman for the presidency saying on Friday that Washington would not be allowed to dictate South Africa's relations with other countries, and that US ambassador Reuben Brigety would receive a démarche - a diplomatic reprimand of the highest order.

Ghana set for Sh411bn IMF bailout after a debt restructuring deal.

Ghana’s economy is looking up after the Official Creditor Committee co-chaired by China and France provided financing assurances - committing to negotiate terms for restructuring the country’s external debt.
The move on Friday means Ghana is set to become the second debt distressed economy after Chad to benefit from resolutions under the G20 led Common Framework. Other economies that have sought resolution under the framework are Zambia and Ethiopia.
Ghana suspended payments on foreign debt including eurobonds, commercial term loans, and most of its bilateral debt on December 19, 2022, pushing the economy into default status and necessitating the restructuring of debt.

Landslide kills 10 in east DR Congo.
Ten people have been killed in a landslide after heavy rain hit eastern DR Congo, officials said Wednesday, in a conflict torn-region where hundreds died last week after catastrophic flooding.
The landslide occurred Tuesday night in the village of Miringati in North Kivu province's Lubero territory, said local administrator Edgard Kasombolene.
He confirmed the death toll of 10 announced by the North Kivu governorate.
