Lecturers and staff at Moi University have resumed their strike, citing the institution’s failure to implement the terms of a return-to-work agreement signed last year. The deal, which was part of a national collective bargaining agreement (CBA), promised salary increases for all workers.

The strike follows a meeting where staff reviewed the agreement’s implementation, attended by Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba. In a joint statement, the Universities Academic Staff Union and Kenya Universities Staff Union expressed regret over the action, blaming the university for not honoring the signed deal.

Moi University staff have not been paid for the past two months, despite other universities disbursing salaries after receiving government funds. Uasu secretary Nyabuta Ojuki criticized the university's management for failing to communicate about the payment of dues, calling it the "black sheep" among universities. The unions have directed workers to stay away from work until further notice.

At least three passengers were killed in a bus accident on the Londiani-Kisumu Road early Saturday morning. Police reported that the driver of the bus, named Dreamliner, lost control around 4 am and the vehicle plunged into a ditch.

Forty-one other passengers were injured, with multiple injuries, and were rushed to Londiani Sub County Hospital for treatment. Among the deceased were two adults and a child. The driver explained that he lost control of the bus while navigating a bend, causing it to veer off and land on the left side of the road.

Traffic officers responded to the scene and detained the driver for questioning. Fatal accidents have been increasing despite ongoing campaigns aimed at reducing such incidents. Over 4,000 people have been killed in accidents across the country, with thousands more injured, leaving a lasting impact on families.

Narc Kenya party leader Martha Karua has declared her intention to run for president in the 2027 General Election.

Speaking at a funeral in Kiandieri, Kirinyaga County, on Friday, Karua stated that she will no longer accept the role of a running mate. "I want to tell my good former Senator Daniel Karaba that I’m beyond any running mate position; I will be going for the top seat in the next election," she said.

Karua also emphasized that she and other like-minded Kenyans would continue to oppose the Kenya Kwanza administration due to its failures. She strongly condemned the recent wave of abductions, attributing them to individuals believed to be police officers—those who are supposed to protect citizens.

Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi has hit back at critics of the government who are calling for President William Ruto’s removal.
Speaking at a rally in Kibirech, Elgeyo Marakwet County on Thursday, the MP mocked the online critics, referring to them as "wakora" (thugs), and dismissed their efforts. He insisted that, despite their "noise," the President is not going anywhere. Sudi also laughed off the viral 'Ruto must go' slogan, calling such demands pointless.
"Do you know those internet thugs in Nairobi? They're making noise, saying 'Ruto must go.' Didn’t I tell them yesterday? They can jump up, go down, or move aside – there’s no place Ruto is going," he said.

The lawmaker further emphasized that no one should feel entitled to lead the country, asserting that anyone has the potential to become President. He also playfully encouraged the residents of North Rift to consider electing him as President someday.

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has warned of consequences for Kenyans using social media to target political leaders and criticize the government.
Speaking on Friday in Uasin Gishu alongside President William Ruto, Murkomen addressed the issue of AI-generated images, which have been widely used by those opposed to the government. He specifically mentioned the recent viral image of President Ruto in a coffin, describing such AI creations as a serious security threat that endangers people's lives.

Murkomen criticized church leaders and parents for enabling what he described as a harmful culture, emphasizing that his ministry would take action to curb the behavior and restore discipline among the youth. He pointed out the issue of AI-generated images, specifically those depicting leaders in coffins, and called on parents and church leaders to condemn such actions.

He posed a thought-provoking question: “If your child goes to school and another child sends them an image of your child in a coffin, would you still defend that behavior?” Murkomen argued that such messages are not only disrespectful but also carry threats of violence, undermining the safety and well-being of children. He expressed concern over the ongoing tolerance of these negative behaviors, which he believes have been allowed to persist for too long.
