Fred Majiwa witnessed a troubling scene on the Kamandura section of the Limuru – Mai Mahiu Road: a truck overturned, and before his eyes, locals prioritized looting, taking batteries, audio equipment, and even siphoning fuel from the wreckage, despite knowing many people have died in similar tragedies. It was disheartening for him to see greed overshadow humanity, with looting taking precedence over helping the injured. Amidst this chaos, his St. John Ambulance colleagues and him intervened to assist the injured driver. It was alarming for them to learn that some looters even attacked the driver while he lay injured.
