Two-time Olympic gold medalist Beatrice Chebet stands as a symbol of determination and resilience, her story a powerful reminder of the challenges faced by Kenyan athletes. Speaking during an NTV interview for , she candidly reveals the obstacles that forced her to move her training base from Kericho to Iten—not out of choice, but necessity.

In Kericho’s Kiprugut Stadium, the track's gravel surface renders racing or spike shoes impractical, a frustration Chebet articulates with both urgency and hope. "It’s becoming a significant issue for us athletes," she shares, calling for government intervention to replace the gravel with a tartan track.

Even in Iten, where she now trains, facilities like Kamariny and Kipchoge stadiums fall short of global standards. Yet, she acknowledges they are an improvement over Kericho’s inadequate infrastructure.

Chebet also highlights Londiani in Kericho County, a region rich in untapped athletic talent, urging the government to build a standard stadium there. "There are so many talented athletes who could benefit immensely from proper facilities," she emphasizes.

Her words are more than a critique; they are a heartfelt plea for change. Chebet’s journey, marked by grit and triumph over adversity, is a clarion call to invest in infrastructure that could shape the next generation of Kenyan champions. Behind her medals lies a story of persistence, one that demands attention and action.
