On May 1 , 2024. President William Ruto banned vetting on the issuance of identity card. The new policy aimed to ease the process of issuance of identity card to the Somalis and the Nubians.

7 months since the ban on vetting was introduced at the grassroots nothing has changed much, we met 34 years Mariam Mohammed Ramadan a mother of 5 who has been struggling to acquire an identity card for
18 years .

This years Nubian souk event took place on 12th December at Kibera primary school in Nairobi.

The Souk is an annual event that gives an opportunity to local entrepreneurs to network, show case their craft,and interact with potential buyers. Apart from the commercial aspect the Souk also aims to revitalize culture of commerce and basket weaving that is presentely on the decline among the Nubians.

Amisa Ibrahim 35 years old a resident of Kibera was burnt and left to dead.Her only mistake was denying her boy friend A**l s*x. Fortunately she miraculously survived 60 percent burn on her body, but four years down the the line Amisa is still struggling to pick up her life again.

Mohammed Mjomba was sentenced to death and life imprisonment by a law court in Kericho. He successfully appealed the judgment and he was instead handed 7 years in prison. In April 2020 he was released from Naivasha upon the completion of his sentence. Life inside the prison wasn't easy considering it was his first arrest. Today he is a transformed person cm crime ambassador at the community, he visit schools and Madrasa to speak about crime and it's negative impact

The Nubian language is currently on the threat of dissapearence due to intermarriage with other communities and death of the elderly members of the community .
